Young & Hungry – Young and Downtown Gabi

The final season premiere opens with Gabi (Emily Osment) in an elevator with Josh (Jonathan Sadowski). She gushes about how she can’t believe they are in an elevator together for the first time as boyfriend and girlfriend and kisses him. When the door opens, an old man walks out shaking his head and rolling his eyes. The couple moves on to the penthouse where Gabi gushes she can’t believe they are in the penthouse as boyfriend and girlfriend. They go to the bedroom where we cut to them discussing the various places they have had sex. He says “I love you sex” is off the charts and she makes him say he loves her again. She says she loves him and they decide to make food. Gabby isn’t sure though if she is cooking as his employer or girlfriend. They decide apron means work, no apron means girlfriend and nothing means sex so they go back to bed.

 

Elliot (Rex Lee) and Yolanda (Kym Whitley) are in the kitchen discussing him spending the weekend with Alan and comparing their life to “Downton Abbey.” He compares all the characters to people on the show, coming to the conclusion that Gabi has all the power now and it can cause problems for them.

 

Gabi comes downstairs and Elliot kisses up to her, calling her “milady” and complimenting her outfit and looks. She thinks he is on drugs and goes to start cooking. Yolanda greets her, calling her sister, which Gabi also finds weird since she never did that before. She says they are like family and family doesn’t fire each other. She then rushes to the laundry room to NOT do laundry and NOT drink…wink, wink. Gabi is very confused and asks Elliot what is going on. He tells her she is hilarious and leaves. 

 

Josh comes downstairs and Gabi tells him Yolanda and Elliot are acting odd. She thinks it is because they are now officially in a relationship and she is seen as the lady of the house. Josh thinks she is reading too much into it but offers to talk to them. Gabi says no because they think they will realize she told on them. They settle on him staying at her place, like a couple of love bugs! Josh regrets calling them love bugs and asks if she will still have sex with him. 

 

At Gabi’s place she is cooking dinner for Josh when Sofia (Aimee Carrero) walks in and takes some of the food. Gabi talks about her plans with Josh, which include food, sex, sleep and more sex. The next day is going to a bakery called The Rolling Scone.

 

Sofia asks if Josh will be staying over every night. Gabi says it is only until everyone gets used to things. Sofia wants to know what happens if she wants to bring her boyfriend over. Gabi thinks she also has a new relationship, but Sofia says she just said “if” and goes to leave. As she goes, Josh walks in and says hello. She says she knows he wants her gone and leaves.

 

Josh says he is happy she is gone and shows Gabi his toothbrush. He goes to shower when he realizes, like the Crossfit shower he rejected earlier, the bathroom is gross. He is shocked, especially when she tells them they are out of TP and he can use toilet filters. He says he is fine, but still in shock over the mess.

 

He tries to calm himself down when he opens the shower and sees a bunch of bras. Gabi warns him about brown water, so he decides against the shower. He tries to use a wet nap, which ends up being a wax strip. He goes to brush his teeth when everything falls out of the medicine chest and he falls into the shower, causing the curtain to fall and panties to end up in his mouth.

 

He goes back into the kitchen when Gabi says they should have sex on the counter. He realizes that is dirty and wants to go to a hotel. Gabi asks for shower sex, but he decides to risk it on the counter. That night they are in bed. Gabi is cuddling him while Josh is miserable. He finally has enough of her messiness, noises in the apartment and pain so he leaves. 

 

The next morning Gabi is angry that he left. When he tries to talk to her about it she says she is in her apron, so they can’t talk. He convinces her to take it off and she thinks he left because he was feeling smothered. He tells her that he had to leave for a business call. She thinks he is lying because he was gone at 4am, but he tells her that it was a time zone situation. They agree to spend the night together again. She says she wants to be at her place, but she didn’t clean yet. He says he won’t notice.

 

At his own place, Josh is on the phone looking for a cleaning lady which Elliot and Yolanda overhear. They are both upset, especially when they hear him say he likes the one he has, but it is for his girlfriend. The two call Gabi a bitch and stalk off.

 

Gabi goes back to her house when Sofia meets her at the door all excited. Gabi thinks she met someone, but it turns out the entire apartment was redone. Sofia says it was all Josh’s doing and shows Gabi the new bed, fridge, AC and bathroom. She is very excited while Gabi is not so amused with the changes. 

 

Josh comes in and Gabi is angry that he did all this without asking. She believes he thinks her stuff is crap and she gets him to admit that is the case. She says she loves her crappy stuff and realizes that is the reason why he left in the middle of the night. They end up fighting with her calling him spoiled and him thinking she is immature. He storms out and she blows a raspberry at him. 

 

Yolanda and Elliott watch “Downton Abbey.” Yolanda is confused that the downstairs people didn’t do anything after the lady of the house took over, so Elliott explains they are British. Yolanda says she is American and they decide to loot the place. They have a ton of boxes they are taking from the penthouse when Josh comes, wanting to talk to them about his fight with Gabi. He explains how she got mad over the maid service and gifts. Yolanda realizes the maid service was for Gabi and Josh explains that she works for him and he couldn’t ask her to do her apartment. Elliott asks if he still works for him and Josh says yes. The two lie and say they were restocking the place and quickly put things away and get their U-Haul deposit back.

 

At Gabi’s apartment, Sofia is still happy with all the new stuff. Gabi says it is all going back. She thinks him rejecting her things means he is rejecting her and they are not compatible. Sofia explains they need to compromise, like they do in their friendship. She is also on her third margarita and just got her laundry delivered by a maid (Blanca Araceli). Gabi wants to sleep and gets into the bed, which she loves. She finally realizes they can compromise. 

 

Gabi goes back to Josh’s place and she says she was feeling insecure. He says he has his own insecurities in their relationship. They apologize to each other and he says he is getting all her old stuff back. She tries to question it, but they kiss and make up instead.

 

The episode ends with Josh and Gabi telling Elliott and Yolanda that nothing will be changing. Elliott uses the opportunity to snark at Gabi and everyone agreeing they are happy. Except Sofia, who is at the apartment crying over the loss of her new fridge.
