You’re The Worst – The One Thing We Don’t Talk About

The episode opens with Jimmy (Chris Geere) and Gretchen (Aya Cash) having quick sex on a pool table. It turns out they are scoping out a venue for the wedding. Gretchen wants this venue and Jimmy is shocked by the costs, so she suggests they just put it on a credit card…one of her many. She says every time one stops working she just gets a new one…acting like the debt isn’t really. She assures Jimmy she can take care of herself.

We then move over to Edgar (Desmin Borges) who is at a meeting with a higher up sketch comedy group, which one of the men would like to take Edgar under his wing…taking Edgar from his current partner.

Gretchen is making a to-do list with the first thing as “make to-do list.” That’s when Lindsay (Kether Donohue ) walks in having to go to the bathroom in Gretchen’s private restroom. She is showing off to Lindsay the venue they picked, but Lindsay says she needs to stop making decisions without her maid of honor…her, obviously. Lindsay is listing off things and then must have let something slip, causing Gretch to get angry and ask her what the one thing they don’t talk about is. After Lindsay names off politics, Math and what happened between Gretchen and Matthew Perry she says “your bitch mom.” DING DING DING! Gretchen isn’t telling her mom she is getting married because she doesn’t want her to take control of it! Lindsay convinces her to tell her mom, so under “hire new bitch” on her to-do list Gretchen writes “Call Mom.”

Gretchen is trying to hire a new assistant, but is relentless. She “cutlures” the first girl because she is “too thirsty” and their La Croix budget isn’t big enough for her. She then decides they are going to the bar, for another test, and one girl thinks the test is not going to the bar because it is 1:30 P.M. This gets her “cutlured” as well, but Gretchen wants another word by 3pm.

Jimmy goes to a meeting for the film on his book. He brings along Edgar to help move his suggestions by posing as his assistant. Jimmy gets in an argument with the producers, which Edgar must explain and help through so that Jimmy’s ideas seem relevant.

We go back to Gretchen at the bar with her potential new assistants. She is calling one “Rachel” when there is not anyone there with that name and playing a game at the bar. Lindsay comes over and tells her she needs to stop finding distractions to not call her mom. Gretchen makes the girls go find someone Lindsay could have sex with and fall in love with while Gretchen and Lindsay “practice” calling Gretchen’s mom.

The girls come back with no one that satisfies Lindsay so she leaves. Gretchen decides to keep partying with the girls, going crazy, making out with some guy she thought was a girl and beating a few people up. The girls end up finding her over the toilet saying she is completely sober.

Gretchen wakes up to find the girl has taken care of her and she decides to call her mom. She goes to tell Jimmy the news and is ecstatic and lovey, prompting Jimmy to ask if she has mixed two different brands of cough syrup together again. She tells him she told her mom and it went well. The episode ends with her saying “but they think I’m marrying Boone.”
