You’re The Worst – The Pillars of Creation

The episode starts out with Becca (Janet Varney) and Vernon (Todd Robert Anderson) going to an event for the lunar eclipse with friends of Paul (Allan McLeod). They go to a very fancy mansion for their stay. Paul asks where their baby is and Vernon says Becca asked Lindsey if she’d babysit. However, Becca said Vernon was supposed to ask. Paul, Becca and Vernon seem to be having a great time together as they play volleyball, bike, and eat exotic fruit. Becca eyes another pregnant woman while Vernon is impressed by the food they have. Becca seems to find an adore for Paul and how sweet is his personality.

Later, as they are by the pool, Paul admits that he thinks they should stop the insemination process because Becca is “too old” and he thinks they don’t have a good chance of her getting pregnant. This causes Becca to admit the truth, that they never actually inseminated Paul’s semen into Becca and just strung him along for the money. Paul admits he already found a surrogate, a much younger girl.

During lunch Paul leaves angrily so Becca follows him. Becca tries to change Paul’s mind by suggesting they have sex to get her pregnant. Just as Paul seems like he is going to say yes, Vernon runs in and messes it up. Becca and Vernon get into a huge fight and both say very hurtful things, causing Vernon to leave and go aggressively drink.  He goes to play a game with a little girl, a game similar to Operation. Vernon gets in a fight with the child when he is losing the game.

Paul says to Becca that he thought they were family. She apologizes and admits she thinks it is for the best, due to Lindsey being her sister. Vernon keeps drinking and is still failing at this board game. He keeps reliving what happened during his accident as a doctor and his fight with Becca. When looking through a telescope with Becca it seems Paul sees Vernon trying to kill himself by tying himself to a heavy rock and throwing it in the river. Paul saves Vernon who decided he didn’t want to die at the last second, but tells Paul if he does he should just burn his whole laptop.

Becca and Vernon make up and Vernon admits he was nervous for Becca to carry Paul’s baby at first, saying it made him feel like less of a man. Vernon thinks everything will be okay and Becca says she believes that it will be.

The lunar eclipse starts and Becca and Vernon are happy together, which Paul notices. Paul admits he thinks he wanted to have Becca be his surrogate because, in a small way, to him it meant his marriage wasn’t a total waste. Paul hears Vernon and Becca having sex and he goes in. Paul and Becca have sex while Vernon holds Becca and masturbates.

At the end, Gretchen (Aya Cash) and Jimmy (Chris Geere) see the three of them together for breakfast. Underneath the table they are all holding hands, hinting that they are now a throuple.
