Interviews

Adam Senn – Hit The Floor

Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I did a part in a movie with Ben Stiller called While We’re Young. I’m not sure when that comes out. I’ve been working on some other acting stuff and I’ve been writing. I’m working on producing an independent film.

Q) We’re currently seeing you on “Hit The Floor” as Zero. How was he originally described to you?

A) It said in the breakdown that he was Tim Tebow mixed with Tom Brady. That’s where I pulled some of it from for the audition. I watched Tim Tebow interviews and Tom Brady interviews.

Q) What was it about the role or the show that made you want to be a part of it?

A) The audition scenes that we were originally given weren’t in any way, shape or form a part of the show. They were dummy scenes. One of them that didn’t make it (I wish it did) was a display of male dominance over the guys that are bigger or better than him. He would still display dominance over them, not even noticing that he was any lesser of an athlete.

Q) What did you find challenging about the role?

A) Once we started filming, I got more involved with the character. I started finding out more details about his background and his backstory, which was kind of kept a secret from me for a while. One way or another, it’s James LaRosa’s way of getting you to do the best work that you possibly can. As we started filming, I started learning more and more about him and he became more and more complex. Honestly, I fell in love with the guy because of some of the things he has been through, good and bad. Those stories will come out later on through the season.

Q) What was it like joining a cast that has already been together for a whole season?

A) It was so easy, I can’t believe it. Everybody on the cast are amazing human beings. As soon as I got signed on, Rob [Christopher Riley] and McKinley [Freeman] really gave me love. They called me and we started playing basketball together and going to the gym together. We became a team. Also, Logan Browning was a team player and we started talking and hanging out. We were just starting to get a feel of what our characters’ relationship would be through out the show. I can’t say enough good things about everybody. Everybody is so awesome. It’s a great cast!

Q) Do you think there is any part of Zero that really likes Jelena?

A) I think so. I think Zero does have love for her. I think he’s always wanted that love. We’ll see what happens.

Q) What were some of your most memorable moments from filming?

A) Definitely one of the most memorable moments is a confessional in the middle of a cemetery and a giant speaker. We had to go film a love scene in the middle of a cemetery. That was pretty awkward and memorable.

Q) What do you think it is about “Hit The Floor” that continues to make it such a fan favorite program?

A) It’s just got everything that you have ever wanted. It’s got characters that you love to love and love to hate. It’s a dynamic cast, ethnicity wise. It’s got an older cast and a younger cast. It kind of brings all sorts of demographics to the show, but also shows the sex, drugs and rock n’ roll of professional athletes that we don’t get to see. We don’t get to see the reality of that. I don’t know for a fact, but I’m sure a lot of those stories from the show are actual things that have happened one way or another in professional basketball. You see the drama with Donald Sterling and crazy stuff happens behind the scenes that doesn’t come out. This show is a good way for us to see some of that drama.

Q) You are a part of social media sites. What has the fan reaction been like to you joining the cast?

A) It’s been great! All the fans have definitely accepted Zero as part of the cast. Also, Jodi Lyn O’Keefe and Brent Antonello came in seamlessly. It worked. You have to give credit to the producers and creator James LaRosa for that. He cast it right and we all just came in there. Fans have all accepted us as part of the cast as if we were part of the original cast.

Q) What can you tease is to come this season for Zero?

A) I wish I could elaborate on where he will go. Zero will do the unexpected when you least expect it. He has a mind of his own. It will all  come out in the upcoming weeks.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I truly love and appreciate all the love and support from the fans and everybody who watches the show. All the comments I get on Twitter and Instagram, I’m learning new terminology every day. It’s great!
