Beauty and The Beast – Love Is a Battlefield

Cat and Vincent (Jay Ryan) continued with their separate undercover operations with DHS and the company employing killers for hire in order to clear Vincent’s name and get their life back. The problem with both of their plans involved trust issues. In order to successfully go undercover, you must convince those you’re trying to infiltrate that you are on their side, that you’re one of them. Unfortunately, this had proven to be easier said than done for both Cat and Vincent.

Cat (Kristin Kreuk) thought she was making head way with Special Agent Morgan in her effort to make him believe that she was trying to convince Vincent to trust her and DHS by turning himself in. But the new agent hired to replace Morgan, Special Agent Olivia Dylan, (Anastasia Barzee) wasn’t easily swayed. She felt that Cat was more interested in getting her husband back into her bed than into custody where he belonged. She was suspicious and it would take extra work on Cat’s part.

Meanwhile, Vincent was having similar difficulties at Greydal, the security firm that was hiring the beast bounty hunters. Greydal didn’t care what dirty work they performed as long as the price was right and wasn’t about to put an untested operative out in the field until they were certain of his abilities and loyalties. In training, Vincent proved he had the skills needed and that he was considered a wanted man was a good indication that he was no friend of the authorities. The problem was the fact that his wife was a DHS agent and that made Greydal skeptical of his wanting to work for them out of the blue. Vincent also had to deal with another operative, Nathanson, (Simon Northwood) who would stand in his way to being put in the field.

Cat shared her frustrations with Heather (Nicole Anderson) and Tess (Nina Lisandrello). It seemed impossible that she and Vincent would be able to move on with their lives. However, it looked like Tess was moving on from her relationship with JT (Austin Basis) by accepting to go out for drinks with an ADA.

Vincent managed to neutralize Nathanson and contacted JT so he could tell Cat that he wanted to meet with her. Cat and Vincent share a brief reunion but had to flee when JT gets wind that DHS is closing in on them. JT tries to pretend that it really doesn’t bother him when Heather tells him about Tess having drinks with an ADA. He understands how Tess feels about waiting for him while he tries to figure out his life. But he is still in love with her and doesn’t want to lose her.

Vincent is put on a mission with a female operative named Diane (Annalynne McCord) in which they have to pose as a married couple at a charity event. Diane is wanted by Interpol so Cat learns about the operation after seeing footage of Vincent and Diane together. JT tries to assure Catherine that she has nothing to be jealous of from the attractive blonde even when the footage shows a kiss the two share. “He looked like he was kissing his aunt,” JT says. Later, Cat tries to convince Special Agent Dylan to allow her to accompany them as DHS moves in to bust Diane and Vincent. Cat gets to the scene before DHS and has a few minutes to talk with Vincent. She wants him to leave with her, but he tells her that it will look suspicious if he leaves his wife (Diane). DHS agents arrive and manage to apprehend Diane, but she escapes using her skill as a trained operative. Vincent even helps in their getaway by pushing Cat into the swimming pool during her fight with Diane.

During another mission with Diane involving obtaining a mysterious flash drive, Vincent is put to the test when Diane orders him to kill a security guard or she will kill him. Still reeling from killing Deputy Secretary Hill when he was in his beast form, Vincent doesn’t want to cross that line again. However, if he doesn’t comply with Diane’s order, not only will he tip his hand and prove that he can’t be trusted but Diane will also kill him. Having no choice, Vincent chokes the life out of the security guard! This convinces Diane. Vincent tells her to go and check to see whether anyone else is there while he disposes of the security guard’s body. Once he is alone, Vincent immediately goes to work as a doctor by using an electrical power charge to revive the man’s heart. Vincent manages to restore the security guard’s life, but the frightened man runs off.

Having learned about the mission, Cat arrives and she and Diane get into a fight to the death. Cat manages to overpower Diane and kill her. Cat finds Vincent who asks whether she’s okay. “I nearly got killed by La Femme Nikita,” is Cat’s response. She wants to get a few things straight with Vincent, but they have no time to talk with DHS on the way.

At DHS headquarters, Special Agent Dylan questions Cat about what happened with the Interpol assassin Diane. Dylan says that the guard told them that Vincent saved his life but after trying to kill him. Since Cat has a way of tracking down her husband, Special Agent Olivia Dylan tells her she’ll keep her on the case but if she finds out that Cat is being less than honest with her, Dylan warns she’ll bring her down along with her husband.

JT shows up at the place where Tess is meeting her date and tells her that he doesn’t want her to start dating again. But when the waitress sets down the drinks at Tess’ table, a crestfallen JT leaves.

Cat and Vincent manages to find a secret place for some married couple alone time. She tells Vincent that they have to find a way to communicate with each other even when they can’t be together and he also has to show her how to work the television remote that he programmed.
