The episode starts with Ava (Jes Macallan) making breakfast for Sara (Caity Lotz), making sure that it´s perfect. All the Legends pitch in with Behrad (Shayan Sobhian) making sure the food is great, Zari (Tala Ashe) adding a passion fruit smoothie and Nate (Nick Zano) adds a rose for a nice romance touch. And they have not forgotten that Sara is home thanks to Mick (Dominic Purcell), so they make sure to let him know and thank him properly, too. While Gary (Adam Tsekhman) and Spooner (Lisseth Chavez) are trying to get some work done on the ship; however, their efforts just end up annoying Astra (Olivia Swann) while she´s trying to study. And they are also interrupted by John (Matt Ryan) who keeps asking Gary about the Fountain of Imperium.

Ava finally gets Sara her breakfast; however, her appetite is not back, but when Ava goes for a kiss Sara yells out that she´s an alien-human-hybrid-clone. Ava is very understanding and Sara asks her not to tell the team yet – at least not on the first mission back. They are needed on the bridge, so they´re called by Gideon (Amy Louise Pemberton). It seems an alien has been detected at Oklahoma territory back in 1891 near an encampment called Fist City, a very dangerous place according to Nate. So, off they go. Although, when the Legends arrive they realize that the citizens may not be that bad.  They are even welcomed with a song by a Cowboy narrator (Duane Keogh) and Behrad meets a beautiful women named Irma Rose (AnnaLynne McCord).

Back at Fist City things are looking weird, so Astra and Spooner try to get into poker with a Desperado (Toby Hargrave) but they don´t really gamble as it would be breaking one of the rules implemented by Sheriff Levi Stapleton (Nic Bishop), a famous criminal. So, the next thing we know he walks in. Sara asks him how he made the place so peaceful, but he´s not giving anything up. When they try to get Spooner´s read they realize her and Astra are nowhere to be seen. They go after the Desperado making him upset which is how the Alien apparently, a Haverack confirmed by Gary, shows up. It is drawn to anger so it just comes out from underground and eats him. The Legends see the Sheriff controlling it with a whistle. The best way to get close to Stapleton is with a square dancing competition suggested by Nate. It does not go well, so instead Sara challenges him to a duel – the winner gets the whistle and loser gets out of town, which also works to find out that she´s now bulletproof. Meanwhile, Astra and Spooner bond over feeling like outsiders.

Sara turns around and says she´s not exactly normal, making Stapleton mad. She shoots the whistle out of his hand, getting the Haverack out of the ground again to eat him whole. Astra and Spooner find the alien, which was filled with gold apparently, and we see a familiar face stepping in – or a character with a familiar face in this case, Bass Reeves (David Ramsey). He is the real Deputy Marshall of Fist City. The Legends try to get the whistle back, but it just causes a shootout with the people of the town. They do not want to give up their gold, so they have to get inside the bar for safety, causing more mayhem as all the Legends can not keep it together for one minute. It is just attracting the worm to them. Nate tries to be the voice of reason, giving a big speech about how no one seems to care the difficult time he´s going through because he´s so chill, which is a part of his plan to get the worm out of the ground into him.

It is a good thing Spooner comes just in time to own her power and turns things around on the Alien with Astra´s help. Back at the Waverider Gary tells John he knows where the the Fountain of Imperium is, so off he goes looking for it. Ava makes Sara a smoothie, extra-Cherry, and they agree on not trying to be normal anymore. Behrad also gives Nate the totems so he can talk with the Zari trapped in it.
