Lindsey McKeon – Repo

By  |

Q.  What are some of the recent projects that you’ve been working on?

A.  Well, I did an episode of “Supernatural” a couple of months ago.  A little while after that I did an episode of “Veronica Mars” and I’m working on a film called Repo

Q.  What can you tell us about the premise for the film and about your character?

A.  The film is a dry, quirky, comedy about these two guys who repossess cars.  One of them lives in an apartment building and it’s about all of the quirky neighbors he has.  I am one of the neighbors and I am a love interest.  I play the sweet, nice girl.

Q.  What made you want to be a part of this film?

A.  I liked the script and Ben Gourley wrote it, is directing it and is acting in it.  He also wrote and acted in another movie called Moving McAlister with Jon Heder.  I got to see a couple of clips from that and it looks absolutely phenomenal and hilarious.  So, I had seen past work and I knew that this would be a good one.

Q.  Has anything been challenging for you about the role?

A.  Well, it’s my first film that’s not a horror film, it’s my first comedy.  I’m not necessarily the comic relief in it, I play the nice girl and it’s kind of simple.  But, it’s been challenging in the sense of having to be more dry and natural rather then punching joke lines.

Q.  With the comedy aspect, did you have to work on your comedic timing or did it come naturally to you?

A.  Well, like I said, with my character I’m not really the comic relief.  So, I just sort of have to be sweet, real and open.  It’s been a tiny bit of a challenge to be really, really sweet.  My initial reaction is like one that comes from a more protected standpoint.  It could come off a little bit harsher.  This girl is protecting herself but she does it in a very sweet, genuine way.  She’s the sweet love interest of the movie so you have to make her a character that everybody can relate to and will want to win the guy’s heart of.  People will know whether or not the two characters have a connection or not.  You can feel that without having acted a day in your life, you as an audience member will know if it is true or not.

Q.  To get that connection and believability, did you two work together and hang out outside of the set?

A.  Once Ben and I were able to sort of be on the same level and on solid ground together, everything else sort of came into place.  That had to do with when we had rehearsals and just spending a little bit more time together to understand each other’s energies.  Now, we get along very well and we’re able to work together and have a connection and have it be real.  Rather than figuring it out in a fake sort of way.  We didn’t have a whole lot of time, but we definitely got together and rehearsed a few different days together.  Just spend some more time together and then we rehearsed with some of the other characters as well.  Just by being on set together everyday and when working together, we sort of have a camaraderie and understanding.  You just get that over time with any actor that you’re working with.

Q.  Do you have a really memorable moment from your time filming?

A.  We had to do this scene, Ben, Patrick Muldoon and I.  We had this scene where we had to jump into a pool and it’s night time.  So, it’s about fifty or sixty degrees outside and the pool is not heated.  So, it’s freezing, it’s like jumping into a huge glass of ice cold water.  That was painful and brutal, there was a time I wanted to cry.  Everything in my body was telling me, “Runaway, runaway right now, why are you doing this to yourself?”  It’s just so funny some of the positions that actors will put themselves into for a job.  I wouldn’t do it if I wasn’t acting, there would be no way anybody could get me into a cold pool at night.

Q.  When the film is released, why should people take the time to check it out?

A.  Because it will be hilarious, I really and truly believe we have an amazing cast.  The writing is incredible, the characters are phenomenal.  Not only the actors, but the characters that they play are just hilarious.  Some of the outfits that they wear, some of things that they do.  It will be a feast for the eyes as well as it will make you laugh.

Q.  You did a guest spot on the show “Veronica Mars” as you mentioned.  What do you think it is about the show that continues to draw viewers in?

A.  First of all, I think watching Kristen is amazing.  She’s so interesting to watch and she’s such a great actress.  She makes very interesting choices and I think that is one of the things that draws viewers in.  Also, the premise of the show is like an old school “Law and Order” detective type show but it’s set on a campus and it’s with younger people.  It can draw in all ages, it encompasses everything.  It is intelligent enough but it also still deals with young people drama.  Kristen is very intelligent and she is sort of like her character is in person.  She’s very funny, very intelligent and she has great timing.

Q.  What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

A.  I just started horseback riding again, which I used to do when I was younger.  I thought I would get back into it because I really enjoyed it.  So, I’m doing that English style and eventually I want to start jumping horses again.  I’ll go on hikes, I’ll rent movies, I’ll hang out with friends and go to the spa.  I like to do crossword puzzles and read books.

Q.  Do you have a latest obsession?  Are you into any particular book, music group, activity or sport?

A.  No, I’d say more than anything crossword puzzles.  I am actually reading a David Sedaris book right now.

Q.  What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?

A.  I love you!  Thanks for sticking with me, it’s always nice to know that you have a core group of people that support you and back you up even when times are slow in this business.  When I move on to different types of shows and different types of acting and different characters and still they are my fans.  It’s very comforting to know that I have that at the end of the day.  Even when times are tough for me, there are still people who are behind me.  That’s just phenomenal to me.
