The episode opens with Ichabod (Tom Mison) in The Vault frantically calling out for Abbie. A figure runs past, causing Ichabod to shout “Reveal yourself!” The little girl in white (Molly) does as she is told and stares at Ichabod. “Who are you?” Ichabod asks before awakening. He is lying on the couch in Jenny’s (Lyndie Greenwood) trailer. Jenny is holding a mystical Tibetan bowl and also appears to be in some sort of trance. Ichabod touches her arm and awakens her as well saying, “Ms. Jenny, you may desist.” ‘Wow, that was deep,” Jenny says, rubbing her wrist. Ichabod was apparently out for a long time as it is now the next morning. He goes to the freezer and pulls out two bags of frozen food, one for the back of his head and the other for Jenny’s wrist. Jenny was performing something called “The Singing Bowl,” a mystical ritual with the hope of revealing the second witness. Ichabod tells Jenny that while he was under, he saw a girl about ten or eleven years old. He doesn’t know who she is, but there was something familiar about her. Ichabod leaves for The Vault hoping to be provided with books for answers on his dream.

A Green Energy Sub-Committee man named Donald (Andrew Stahl) is arguing with Dreyfuss (Jeremy Davies) about how his construction crew digging around is not good. “You’re up to something and it’s not saving the planet,” Donald says. Dreyfuss threats Donald, warning the man that he better hope what his Dreyfuss’ men dig up next is not Donald’s dead body. This exchange is interrupted by Jobe (Kamar de los Reyes), reminding Dreyfuss of his morning meeting. One “that actual matters” according to Dreyfuss. At the meeting, Dreyfuss is offering three witches a rare and sought after dagger in exchange for something called “The Witch Stone.” The eldest sister Moll (Sara Sanderson) refuses to hand over the stone. The other sisters say it’s their sacred duty to protect the stone. Dreyfuss comments that The Witch Stone has nothing to do with witches and as they can detect liars, they know he’s not lying. Moll is the liar and pays the price as sisters Marg and Malligo chant a spell, something about serpent’s tongue, and kills her. These three are definitely not The Halliwell Sisters of Charmed!

Diana (Janina Gavankar) tries to make pancakes for Molly’s (Oona Yaffe) breakfast, but fails. She leaves her daughter with the nanny, Clara (Caroline Arapoglou) and goes to work.

Meanwhile at The Vault, Jake (Jerry MacKinnon) is wearing the same clothes he wore last night and gets teased by Alex (Rachel Melvin). But it’s not because he’s doing “the walk of shame” as she believes. Jake was there and up all night trying to map out the secret tunnels in The Vault. They arm themselves when they hear a noise. It is Ichabod. He had to use the tunnels because he doesn’t have a security badge. Ichabod came to The Vault because he needs books on dreams and prophecies to help unravel the mystery presented to him by a Tibetan Singing Bowl. Jake gives Ichabod a few books. When Ichabod refers to Alex as Ms. Alex, she’s says “Just Alex, no Miss.” Love this girl. Ichabod receives a telephone call from Diana and leaves The Vault.

Diana and Ichabod look at a dead body of what appears to be an old woman. Ichabod tells Diana that the woman is using a glamour, a method of mystical camouflage used since Salem. “As in the Salem Witch Trials?” Diana asks. “The very same. It would appear that the practice of witchcraft is alive and thriving in our nation’s capital,” Ichabod answers. Diana asks Ichabod whether the dead witch will wake up in the morgue and start killing people. Fortunately, Ichabod sees no sign of necromancy. He recognizes the tattoo on the dead witch’s arm. It belongs to The Dyer Coven. Ichabod then tells Diana about how The Dyer Sisters helped General Washington capture John Andre and stop his plot with Benedict Arnold. They had the skill to detect liars. From the wounds of Moll’s body, Ichabod concludes that the other two members of the coven killed her. Diana makes a telephone call requesting an APB put out on two female suspects with a distinct tattoo. She then sends over a picture of the tattoo.

Marg Dyer (Courtney Lakin) and her sister Malligo (Kelley Missal) are having drinks at a bar when two men try to pick them up. But the lie detector sister witches know that “their suitors” are liars with wives and children at home. The chant the serpent tongue spell again and kill the deceitful men.

Diana is driving back from the crime scene of Moll’s murder. She asks how Ichabod knows so much about witches. “I was married to one,” Ichabod answers. Nice shout out to Katrina. Diana receives a call about another murder downtown. When she finishes the call and puts down her phone, Ichabod is shocked to see the screensaver is that of the little girl in his vision. He calls Jenny about this. Ichabod thinks that Diana’s daughter may be a clue to lead them to the next witness. But Jenny’s has been working on some translations and tells Ichabod that the girl IS the next witness. “The Witness is a child, what do we do with that?” Jenny says.

At the next crime scene, Ichabod points out to Diana that her tablet shows the real faces behind the glamour because witchcraft pre-dates technology. They have to find the witches. A call to The Vault and Jake tells Ichabod that the Dyer Sisters were given a plot of land as payment for helping to capture John Andre. After he hangs up with Ichabod, Alex tells Jake that her research of Ichabod Crane shows that from 1781 until three years ago there’s no mention of him in any records.

Jenny is in her car watching Molly as she sits on a bench at school. When two mean girls tease and then push Molly to the ground, Jenny springs into protective mode. “Hey, how about we even the odds?” The girls take off. Jenny helps Molly up. Diana sees Jenny with her daughter and notices that Molly is hurt from a fall down. She questions Jenny. Ichabod gets out of Diana’s car and walks towards Molly. The two lock eyes and then Molly says “hello” to Ichabod. Molly tells her mother what happened. Diana is just so happy that her daughter is talking again. Jenny tells Ichabod that she had to see Molly, but he reminds that she’s not Abbie. Nanny Clara comes to pick Molly up. Diana walks over to where Jenny and Ichabod are standing and confronts Jenny about approaching Molly. Jenny tells Diana that with the person who unleashed the Booth demon and the people who kidnapped Crane still out there so she wanted to make sure Molly was okay. Jenny apologizes for overstepping her bounds. Diana wants to find the witches so she can get back home.

Not too far from where Moll’s body was found, Diana, Jenny and Ichabod find the Dyer Sisters’ house. Like the witches themselves, it was hidden by a glamour. The trio go inside. It looks like no one is home. Diana touches an old Grandfather house that proceeds to go wonky. Not good. She has disturbed the witches’ home security system and they are furious by the home invasion. Plus, they were painting the total red (literally) and hate being interrupted from their fun. Marg has Diana and Jenny pinned to a wall in one room while Ichabod is being confronted by Malligo in another room. A bow from the crossbow that Ichabod fires into the clock causes the rapid aging of the witches. Jenny kicks Marg and Diana shoots the witch and Marg dies. Soon after, Malligo also bites the dust. Jenny and Ichabod think Diana is capable and therefore ready to learn about her daughter.

Later that night, Molly makes pancakes for dinner for them and tells Diana why she stopped talking. “I just felt strange. Like a shadow walked over my shadow. Like a friend was gone.” Jenny and Ichabod are watching from their car. They will not tell Diana about Molly tonight after all.

Meanwhile, Jobe tells Dreyfuss, “He’s headed this way. And if his reputation holds true, death and destruction will follow.” A trucker sees a man on a horse going in the opposite direction towards Washington, D.C. Oh, and the man doesn’t have a head. The Headless Horseman is 200 miles from the Nation’s Capital!
