Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Great. First off, I sound great. I feel I fit in well between 90s female country storytellers and today’s current country.  I hope to be a current Jo Dee Messina

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Jo Dee Messina, Ashley McBryde, Cody Johnson, RunAway June

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Along the Way.”

A) “Along the Way” is all about having the courage to tell your partner to go and explore the world and do all the things they have ever wanted and that then end of the day you just pray they come back.  And when they do you know it isn’t because they don’t know any better it’s because you were enough for them to come back to after trying everything else.  It’s all about realizing what is truly important… along the way…

Q) This song was inspired by your bestie Emily. What makes her so special to you?

A) She’s been my best friend since I can remember.  She knows me, all of me.  She is honest and kind and there is never a dull moment with Emily.  Emily also is very naturally beautiful and she played a huge roll in my confidence in high school having someone around who was confident in themselves without all the extra stuff.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) The sense of adventure and honesty.  I think if we are honest with ourselves, we are always looking for the reassurance that we are loved and enough.  We are always questioning our value.  Along the way reassures that you can love someone AND let them go, but it also assures you can always go home.

Q) This track was co-written with Steven McMorran, but what is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Cowriting is always different.  I personally don’t have to have a melody before lyrics, but I prefer to.  I am very lyric driven and usually I will write the first few lyrics first and figure out what kind of space I am dealing with and then go from there.  It is kind of a hard process to explain sometimes.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) Personally, I don’t feel very confident taking those reins myself, but I am also not confident completely handing them over.  I am very lucky that the producers I have worked with all me to have as much or as little creative ability when in the studio.

Q) Will you be releasing a full album or EP in the near future?

A) In the future yes, near? I am not too sure about that yet.  With recent events I am not sure if any artist knows what 2020 looks like for them.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Allie Colleen performance?

A) Somewhere between a coupling session and a party.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A I got to open for Pat Greene at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa March of 2018.  That was a dream.  One day I will headline that venue.  Cain’s Ballroom is the dance hall I grew up going to for live music.  I have had the time of my life in front of that stage.  That’s where I saw Cody Johnson the first time.  Now I can’t wait to see it from the other side.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Cody Johnson or Ashley McBryde

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I am always listening to my friends: Carly Rogers, Joe and Martina, James Dupre, Rachel Wammock. I love them and their talent and their drive and I’d support them anyway I can.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Honestly, just thank you.  There are so many talents artist all over this planet right now and if for some reason my music and my messages stick out to you then thank you and I can’t wait to share more with all of you.  AND be kind to one another.
