America’s Got Talent – Season 18, Episode 5
By: Sammi Turano
Sharpe Family Singers: The daughter Samantha was on American Idol. Now they are channeling the von Trapps or Partridge family or something by singing as a family. Tonight’s offering is How Far I’ll Go, which is cute and reminds me of something that would be on the Disney Channel. I do have to admit they are adorable. Four yeses.
Adrian Stoica and Hurricane: A dog act! These are always so fun to watch! This one has a lot of different props and tricks and has Hurricane get Adrian out of bed, bothers him and is overall the way a dog is with their human. Four yeses.
Chen Lei: He uses rods to build a structure…which he then uses to do a hand balancing act. I’ve never seen a structure being built and then used for this purpose. It is quite clever and fun….not to mention scary to watch. Four yeses.
Trailer Flowers: Jack and Brooke are doing this in honor of Brooke’s grandfather, who died last year and loved AGT.They start one song, but Simon doesn’t like it and requests something else. They do an original song, which wins everyone over. Three yeses. Howie says no.
Ryland: He is a magician at only ten years old. He was previously on Britain’s Got Talent and made it to the semifinals. He has friends help him match numbers and photos that were given to the judges. He’s also got a cute sense of humor, giving him a charm we haven’t seen in other magic acts. Four yeses.
M: They are comedians that wear white horror masks and….they get buzzed off the stage, despite Sofia liking them.
Barry Brewer Jr: He is another comedian who also sings. He hurt himself prior to the audition, so now he is on crutches. He sings, tells jokes, plays the piano and wins over everyone. It is such a different kind of act. Four yeses.
Justin Jackson: He is a tap dancer who dances both on the stage and on a raised platform. He does so well that he gets a standing ovation. Four yeses.
Ryan Hayashi: He does a magic act with the help of Heidi and Terry. However, everyone finds it boring and he gets sent home.
Sangsoon Kim: His magic act changes the color and looks of shoes. It is quite different and interesting, although it reminds me of the quick change act from a few seasons ago. Four yeses.
Lachune: She is a music teacher who is now taking a chance on her own dreams. Her voice is powerful and moving, giving Diana Ross vibes. I definitely see her going places with her newly-shared talent. Four yeses.
