Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as a fusion of pop with some flavors or disco/funk and some overtones of rock!

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Maroon 5, Backstreet Boys, Michael Jackson, Jamiroquai and I love to pull inspiration from various disco and funk artists!

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Gimme More Bass.”

A) The story behind “Gimme More Bass” is really about enjoying the moment and feeling the rhythm of the music as you dance the night away!

Q) You’ve said working on “Gimme More Bass” changed you as a person. In what ways?

A) With “Gimme More Bass” I took a step back and I wanted to do something a little different. Since I was a little kid and I’ve always been a huge fan of the Backstreet Boys and with “Gimme More Bass” I wanted to bring that catchy boy band pop energy and fuse it with funk/disco and rock. I usually spend a lot of time writing my melodies and often times I’ll write the lyrics and melodies three to four times before I’ll actually get to what you hear on the final record, but with “Gimme More Bass” I didn’t want to overthink it. I wanted to write something that made be feel like I’m listening to the Backstreet Boys with a simple story and lyrics so you could just focus on the overall energy of the song.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) In my opinion, I think that it’s such a simple song lyrically almost sing-a-long style and is complemented by a great bass groove so it’s something that is fun to connect with!

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) I think the video represents the track and the message behind the song perfectly because we made a performance video, and the set is crafted to feel almost like a concert where you feel like it’s just you and your favorite songs as you dance the night away.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) My writing process varies depending on the song and how I feel. Often, I will come up with a melody and some lyrics and we’ll write the instrumentation around but other times we start with an amazing guitar riff, or we just put our heads together and come up with a great groove in the studio and then I’ll start writing some melodies and lyrics afterwards.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I’m usually involved heavily in the production of my music because I always want to make sure that it’s an honest reflection of my tastes in music. I always work closely with my producer in the production and for some songs I have my hand at sound design and creating the initial base tracks of some of the songs that we hear on my album Freak on Repeat. I also love to work with my live band mates and showcase their incredible talent and genius on the tracks. I feel like they understand me as an artist and my vision for the kind of music that I want to create. Every person that I collaborate with plays a big part in making all the records come to life. It truly is a team effort because everybody has their own signature sound and style and fusing all of those elements together always creates a sound that you can never replicate because we have that magic team that understands each other’s energy when we come together to create.

Q) We love your “Intimandrew Sessions.” Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It makes me happy to hear that you enjoy those sessions! We recently started the live sessions about a month ago and I always am really excited for them. For me it’s very important to connect with my fans in the most honest way and livestreaming is a great way for me to be able get to know all my fans and be with them almost like if it was in person. It’s always a really fun time and I always love to give out live spoilers when it comes to tour dates or music. [laughs]

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I think Dua Lipa would be a cool collaboration especially on a retro themed song!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve always been listening to all of Maroon 5’s records weekly growing up and to this day I probably listen to their albums the most. They’re just something so unique about their sound and they’re my favorite band! Also, I’ve been listening to Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia. It’s one of those albums that every song is incredible and could be a single!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) First and foremost, I’d like to thank you all for listening to the music. It’s truly a blessing to be surrounded by such amazing people. I’m really grateful every step of the way on this journey together and I can’t wait to see you in person at the shows soon. Sending you all lots of love ~ Stay Rockin’
