Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as experimental. This past year I have really been digging into new sounds with my music and I feel like it keeps me super engaged and will keep my listeners guessing, too. I am the type of person that wants to try every style of music possible. And I feel like in today’s day and age, it’s totally cool to do that! I would never want to live in the same artistic world my whole life because that’s not what art is. Art is exploring your capabilities and discovering new limits every day. Try everything because you never know what you may find.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I have lots, but I would say they change based on what kind of music I am making. I think my musical influences that always stick around no matter what would be Queen and Elton John. They are both such amazing acts and the reason why I love them both so much is because of the theater elements they incorporate in their music. They are both so theatrical in everything they do whether it’s music, fashion, etc. and that has been something I have always wanted to do with myself, too.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “No Negotiations.”

A) “No Negotiations” was such a fun song to write. It honestly happened so naturally, and I think that’s why I love it so much. We started with production which just made me feel so powerful. At that moment I felt like I was on top of the world. So, I wrote about that. I wrote this fantasy of being the queen of everything. Whenever I listen to this song or perform it, I just feel so powerful and confident and that is how I want to make people feel when they listen to it as well. I want them to feel untouchable and strong because they are! I think sometimes we all need a little confidence booster and that’s what “No Negotiations” is here for!

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I just think this is an opportunity for people to remind themselves how amazing they are. I think we are sometimes very hard on ourselves, and we can put ourselves down a lot. This song is a way for you to remember that you are AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL AND ALL OF THE ABOVE.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Definitely. I think the music just helps me get a feel of what I want to talk about and how I want to say it. I have done it the other way around a few times, but find I am not as successful, so I stick to what makes me the best song.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I, personally, do not know much about production, but I still have a big part in it. I would say I have a big part in everything even if I don’t know how to do it. Although I am not physically producing the song, I am working with the producers on ideas, sounds, etc. and the producer will execute them for me. I would definitely love to learn how to produce eventually, but first I have to learn how to properly use a computer without somehow destroying it. I do also enjoy the fact that I don’t really know much about production. I know that if I knew how, I would be so nitpicky about the smallest things like I usually am with the things I am good at. So, I do enjoy listening to the production of the song as just any other listener would.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) There is not much I can say right now, but I can promise there is plenty of new music. I have been in the studio writing consistently for the past year now and I am so excited for people to hear what’s been made. I can definitely say this new music coming out is my favorite music I have ever made in my entire life. I’m super proud of it all and I can’t wait for everyone to have it for themselves, and I especially can’t wait to perform it live.

Q) With concerts finally returning, where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I haven’t performed live too many times yet, but I have had some super amazing shows so far. I think my favorite place to perform would be the Velvet Underground in Toronto. It was the venue where I had my first live show and have had some other really fun shows there. It’s also my home. I have been in Toronto my entire life and started my career there too, so it feels so comforting to be performing these songs in the same place they were made. It’s like a full circle moment.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) 1000000% Elton John. As I said earlier, and as everyone who knows me knows, I am such a huge Elton fan. I have loved him since I was a little girl and have been so influenced by him in so many different ways. First off, it would just be the biggest honor to collaborate with him, and second, I would genuinely love to see what we could come up with. I really enjoy seeing how he collaborates with new artists today, and I am always interested to hear what they create!

Q) What album/musician are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I have been listening to a lot of Audrey Nuna recently. Audrey is a singer/rapper but there is something so special about her voice and the music that she sings on that literally has me hooked. She’s just got such a buttery sweet voice and I think it sounds amazing when she raps. It sounds different from typical rapping, but I honestly don’t really have a comparison to give. She is so unique and is just on her own wave and I would just say go listen to her right now.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is a difficult job at times. But I think it is crucial for artists to be able to engage with their listeners. It’s a way to let your audience into your personal life a little more. I feel like the more my audience knows me, and the more I know them, the more they get the music and why I am making it. I also think it’s a great way to let your fans know that you are there for them. My fans are so unbelievably supportive, and I think it’s important that I give them that support back. They are the reason I am here, and I want them to know that. I talk with my fans almost every day! We play games, we talk on group chats, and it feels more like a friendship rather than a fanbase.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would honestly like to say thank you. You have all made my dreams come true and I am genuinely so excited for you all to join me on the rest of the journey. I know this sounds so incredibly cheesy and cliché, but I genuinely appreciate every single one of you. You are all the sexiest people alive and deserve only the greatest things in life. I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART!!!!!!!!!
