Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Country with a rock influence.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) My musical influences are kind of all over the place because I truly am inspired by different genres. However, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Jason Aldean are at the top of my list! Plus, I love 80s rock bands.

Q) How did growing up in Texas influence you as an artist?

A) Growing up in TEXAS, I was surrounded by music from country to Tejano (Texas Spanish music). That’s what we listened to at family gatherings. My aunts and uncles would sing and play guitar to Johnny Cash and Freddie Fender.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Stop the Bullet.”

A) It was a demo that was pitched to me and the moment I heard it I knew I had to cut it. The lyrics really spoke to me, and I thought that if they spoke to me that they’d surely speak to others. It was written by Emily Shackleton, Phil Barton, Victoria Banks and Adam Argyle.

Q) Lyrics like hold on heart, don’t speak yet, if you do you might say something you regret, really stand out to me. Which of your lyrics in this song really speak to you?

A) It’s funny that you chose that particular lyric because it’s the one that stood out to me the first time that I heard the song. Very rarely do you hear a song that opens with such a powerful lyric. I love that one because it reminds you to choose your words carefully, because words have meaning, and they can hurt. There’s nothing worse than saying something you wish you wouldn’t have said and I think we can all relate to that.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Usually, the co-writes that I’ve been in we will all have some sort of idea lyrically and we start writing a verse and then we add music. It sounds difficult, but it seems to really flow easily once you have a verse to start off with. We all end up just throwing out ideas when it comes to songs, and I think that’s the best part about writing!

Q) Eric Legg lent a hand with production for “Stop the Bullet,” but how much of a say do you have in the production of your music?

A) I was lucky enough to have 100% of a say in what I wanted the song to sound like. Once they added what I wanted, they went in and added a little bit more and made it even better. I truly had great musicians and producers this song and I’m thankful for all of them.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) I’m planning on an EP, but as of right now it’s still a work in progress. I’d like to record a couple more songs!

Q) You have opened for the likes of Brett Young and Sam Hunt. Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Anywhere in Nashville really and, of course, in my hometown of Dallas. For me they’re significant because Dallas is where I started my career and it led me to Nashville. So, both places mean a lot to me when I perform there.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Carrie Underwood please or even Kelly Clarkson. Can I have both?!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve currently got the Eternal Blue album by Spiritbox on repeat. Courtney LaPlante can ROCK.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I think social media is always going to be one of those things that is popular and it makes it easier to connect with fans from all over, no matter the time of day.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Just thank you. Thank you for believing in me, and for being so patient the last few years waiting for new music. To know that this many people have been hoping for a new release from me is awesome and I’m glad I was finally able to do that for not only them, but for myself. All I can say now is that more music is coming and I can’t wait to share!
