The episode starts five years ago at Arkham prison with a rookie Sophie (Meagan Tandy) and someone she just put behind bars, someone named Arthur (Rick Miller) aka Cluemaster. Apparently, Sophie was able to figure out his latest riddle and that´s why he becomes obsessed with her. At present day a prison guard (Joshua Mazerolle) goes to check on him only to be killed by Cluemaster with a stab to the neck so he can escape.

Batwoman (Javicia Leslie) is still going after some of the false face society members, but is interrupted by Agent Tavaroff (Jesse Hutch). He and the crows ambush her. She´s able to get rid of them, but not before telling the crows how bad at their job they are doing because they made her lose the latest track of Black Mask (Peter Outerbridge). We find Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) at a playground. He just injected himself with more snakebite and has a hallucination of young Kate (Gracyn Shinyei) and Young Beth (Ava Sleeth). Back at the Sionis Mansion Alice (Rachel Skarsten) is still being held prisoner by Roman and Circe (Wallis Day). He asks who Batwoman is, but she does not give her up so he continues torturing her. She tries to escape the mansion but is caught by Circe before being successful. Alice figures out that she knows Roman Sionis is Black Mask, so she offers him to make his daughter a new face so she doesn´t have to hide anymore in exchange for her freedom.

Mary (Nicole Kang) is having a little party with Sophie when Ryan walks in and is not happy with that situation. Sophie is not interested in drama and invites her to help herself to Tequila. They end up playing “Never Have I Ever,” but after finishing the bottle they find out that it was a present from Cluemaster and they may have been poisoned. Ryan tells them that he escaped Arkham that morning. They don´t involve the police and try to solve the puzzle, which leads them to a girl named Stephanie Brown (Morgan Kohan) who is trapped in a box. Sophie immediately recognizes her as Cluemaster´s daughter and, of course, she has been poisoned. They are able to get her out of the box and to give her the antidote for the poison just to see that her whole body is covered in numbers and letters.

Stephanie says that she´s the one that solved the puzzle five years ago but Agent Moore took the bullet for her and never gave up her name. They are going to need all the help they can get, so they call Luke (Camrus Johnson) to help them but it takes a weird turn as he and Stephanie start to kind of flirt. The are able to send the girls to Quizbowl, the game show that Cluemaster used to host; however they walk in to a weight sensitive bomb.

Luke and Stephanie are still trying to figure out the whole puzzle picture. She finds out where her father is and then knocks him down and leaves without telling him. Mary and Ryan are playing Cluemaster´s quiz game. They get all the questions right so they are able to buy themselves forty five more minutes, which is not enough time anyway. So,  Mary and Ryan get into an argument after Sophie asks to call Batwoman, but for obvious reasons Ryan says that she may not come because she could be busy. However, Sophie just yells that she already knows she´s Batwoman ,so she´s able to go to the Batcave and grab a tool described by Ryan.

Stephanie goes back to her childhood home to find Cluemaster there, but he asks her to join him after finding out that she´s the one who figured out his puzzle five years ago. She refuses and he takes her to a closed car with smoke inside. He´s planning to kill himself and her but Luke arrives just in time to get her out of the car and to receive a kiss from her.

At the end of the episode Alice puts Circe´s new face on and is able to look into her eyes only to recognize that it is Kate.
