Bre – America’s Next Top Model
Q) Who are your favorite designers?
A) My favorite designer right now is Marc Jacobs. I got my first Marc Jacobs jacket when I was in London and I started following the line when I was out there. All of the things that I picked up, I can wear with my denim. Anything that I can wear with denim I’m in love with! He’s a new designer that I am looking at and I am trying to follow his spring collection.
Q) Why did you decide to apply for the show?
A) I have been doing fashion for about five years. Mostly I have been doing merchandising, marketing and advertising and it was a show that I’ve been following for a while. I was like why not?
Q) What was it like meeting Tyra Banks?
A) Meeting Tyra is like meeting God. It’s someone you hear about all the time, but no one you really expect to really meet firsthand. To work with them one on one is amazing!
Q) Why do you think they chose Nicole over you?
A) They chose Nicole over me because Nicole had a better CoverGirl photo than me. She also had more consistency in her pictures. Remember, I was just improving where as her pictures were beautiful from day one. They were looking for someone more consistent and had more of a CoverGirl look to them. I think that Nicole has more of a young fresh CoverGirl look.
Q) What did you like about your time in London?
A) I go to work with some really great photographers. I got to work with the photographer who started off Twiggy’s career. Also, I had never been overseas before so it was a great place to pursue your dreams in a place you’ve never been before.
Q) What did you learn about modeling from the show?
A) I learned my angles and I’ve learned my lighting. I learned, briefly, how to apply my own makeup. You know what? I learned a more important lesson to love me because it got me all the way to the end of the competition. Not only am I special, and I think so, but I think the judges think so, too.
Q) Do you regret dumping Nicole’s Red Bulls?
A) I should have drunk them instead. If I was going to do that, I might as well have put them to good use because I surely could have used the energy for the following photo shoot. If you watch the one that Nigel Barker did then you can see.
Q) Were you worried coming on the show that you would be made to lose your accent?
A) It’s just because I am from New York and I have an aggressive tone. I could care less what they say about my accent because it’s where I am from. It’s a part of who I am and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Q) What are you going to do now that you are no longer on the show?
A) Now I am just looking for an agency that will present me in this industry with a positive image so that I appeal to not only adults, but teenagers also. I am looking for some endorsements. I’d love to some commercials and print ads. Later on, down the line, I’d love to work on a major motion picture.
Q) What can we expect from the reunion show and to learn about you?
A) I think from the reunion show you’ll see that no one is really holding any grudges to anyone. As far as myself, I am just going to give the people what they’ve been looking at for the last thirteen weeks and that’s Ms. Bre.
Q) What is your most memorable moment from being on the show?
A) You do thirteen episodes and all of them are memorable in their own sense. I don’t have a specific one.
Q) What advice would you give to future contestants who wish to try out for the show?
A) For future contestants, I would say just because you don’t get picked doesn’t mean you are not good enough. I think it means you are not what they are looking for. Just the way I didn’t get picked to be America’s Next Top Model, I just wasn’t what they were looking for at the time. It doesn’t mean I am any less of a model than Nicole or Nik. For those who do make it on the show, I think the most successful models are the ones that find a niche. Find something special about yourself and elaborate it and exaggerate it and make it beautiful. We all have something special about us that people see so just put it to use!
Q) What would you like to say to all of your fans and supporters?
A) To all of my fans and supporters, who have really carried me through these last couple of months, I just want to say thank you and I truly appreciate it. I am going to continue to have a household name and I want to continue being a positive role model for young women. This is just not it, guys! You’ll probably see me doing something else really soon!
