Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Sam Hunt, Rascal Flats, Elvis — just to name a few.

Q) What made you want to cover the iconic Christmas song “Baby It’s Cold Outside?”

A) I’ve always wanted to cover this song because I love the back and forth between the two singers. When Jen Lilley asked me to be a part of it, I knew I couldn’t refuse!

Q) How did you come to collaborate with Jen Lilley on the song?

A) We each have a mutual friend (Rob Christie) at Republic Records and when he and Jen were thinking of male options, my name came up. They say it’s because of my “fun attitude,” but I like to tell myself they were looking for someone to channel Michael Buble. [smiles]

Q) How much of hand did you have in the production of this track?

A) Not much actually! They sent me the finished track and lyrics and I sang my part over it. Jen and I Facetimed a couple times to go over delivery because some parts they wanted to be conversational, but that was super easy to work through with her.

Q) I love that proceeds go towards buying holiday gifts for the homeless! What are some other ways people can get involved with donations?

A) Supporting your local homeless shelter is the best place to start, especially if it covers the needs for families and kids.

Q) What are some of your other favorite songs to sing during Christmas?

A) “Mary Did You Know” and “Silent Night” are my go to’s. Can’t beat the classics.

Q) What typical holiday traditions that you hold close that you will have to change up a bit this year?

A) Probably shopping in person—but I’m actually really good at online shopping, so it’s no sweat! [laughs]

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) There’s a couple of songwriters I’ve always admired in Nashville: Shane McAbally, Kelly Archer and Jordan Davis are just a few that I would love to work with someday.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve been loving Brennley Brown’s new EP Story Stays! She’s got an incredible voice and such a great attitude about life. One of her songs “Retro” on the EP is probably my favorite. We’re working a few songs together too actually.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I want people to know what I stand for. What I’m about. I’m not about pretending to be something I’m not. I think my fans appreciate that honesty.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you for listening and follow the journey! I’ve had so much great support over the years. It really feels like a lot of my fans have grown up with me.
