Q) Please tell us the premise for In Other Words.

A) In Other Words is a really funny romantic comedy that has a ton of heart. It follows my character, True Andrews, who’s a tech geek that gets debilitatingly nervous when he meets beautiful women. So, I create a match-making app and finally get connected with a woman. The only problem is, she only speaks Spanish.

Q) What made you want to be a part of the film?

A) Oh man, the script was so fun! I was laughing out loud reading it. That was a great sign and I knew I wanted to do it. When I found out the cast, that was an added bonus!

Q) How was your character True Andrews originally described to you?

A) I don’t necessarily know that I remember how he was described to me originally. I was first contacted via email by the writer/producer Cristina Nava and her email subject line was, “Lead Role in a feature film.” I almost deleted it because I didn’t recognize the email address and I thought it was spam!

Q) What did you add to the character that wasn’t in his initial breakdown?

A) Myself! [smiles] I think that’s an important thing that actors or, heck, anyone needs to remember about themselves. No one else in the world is you. No one smiles exactly like you do. No one laughs exactly like you do, at the exact same time you do, about the exact same things. No one has experienced everything in the same order at the same times in history as you have in order to make your experience on this Earth a unique one. I brought me and all my experiences and my weird, goofy thoughts to the role.

Q) Were you familiar with any of your costars before working with them on this movie?

A) Of course, I was familiar with Chris Kattan. I wasn’t as familiar with any of my other costars before Patrick [Perez Vidauri] informed me who I’d be acting with. But when he told me who they were, I was very excited to meet them!

Q) True’s app matches him with Angelica. What do you think makes the app think they are so compatible?

A) Well, I could tell you, but it’s a spoiler alert…

Q) What advice did director Patrick Perez Vidauri offer that you took to heart while shooting?

A) I cannot remember a specific advice that Patrick gave me, but he led by example. He was so easy to work with. A true artistic collaborator that I’d do over and over again. He was so respectful and honored my creative thoughts.

Q) This is such a cute rom-com, but after a long day of filming how did you shake off being on set?

A) I didn’t. I studied for the next day. I wanted to be as ready for the day and everyone who was relying on me to be on my game. Sometimes, on very crucial scenes, we only got one take, so I’m glad that I came prepared to set every single day.

Q) What were some of your favorite scenes to shoot?

A) Gosh, it was such a joy to be working on this incredible story with amazing people, so every day was a joy, but I really loved my experiences with Chris Kattan. I literally was pinching myself not to break character because he’s so funny. It’s hard to pick just one scene. I did really love shooting at the Mansion in Malibu that we used for our Valle de Guadalupe.

Q) What do you hope viewers take away from watching In Other Words?

A) I really hope that they experience a lot of joy and laughter through the film. I also hope that they’re touched by love in the film. May it inspire then and give them luck to find love in their life.

Q) The movie is out on VOD now. What kind of fan response have you been getting to the film via social media?

A) It’s been really incredible. We’ve had so many awesome responses from everyone! People are loving it. Some saying, “This is the rom com my heart needed right now!” And others saying, “I haven’t laughed that much in years from watching a movie!

Q) What other upcoming projects have you been busy working on?

A) I’ve been busy working on my Sci-Fi series Space Command as well as a number of films that are currently in development. Additionally, Natasha Esca (Angelica) from the film and I are planning on doing another film together that she wrote, so we’re very excited about that!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and the work you do?

A) I’d first and foremost like to say thank you. It’s really fun for me to hear how the pieces of art that I have the privilege to be a part of can really affect people in such a positive way! Thank you so much! Our film is an independently made film, so sharing it with others goes a very long way!
