Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is called Trap/Pop…even though I don’t like genres and feel like I can do any style of music. There is heavy trap influence with pop melodies/vocals with a bit of grit to it.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Some of my musical influences are Prince, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Saint Jhn and TLC.

Q) How did working with top producers in Atlanta help shape the music that you make?

A) Starting out and working in ATL allowed me the opportunity to work with some of the best in the industry. I learned songwriting techniques that I still use today but most importantly, Atlanta music is a vibe, and you really can’t understand it unless you live there and experience being in that creative space. ATL has definitely stayed with me.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Remember.”

A) “Remember” is about my experience in an emotionally/mentally abusive relationship. It chronicles the pain, and the music video visualizes the dark moments up until when I found the strength to get out of my situation and live a life I deserved. It really is about a breakup but not in the typical sense because there’s a lot of bad-ass energy in the lyrics. It’s a song for those who know how to fight or for those who need the inspiration to fight and overcome.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) Everyone has had a dark moment in life…pain is universal. I think when you stay real in the music, people will connect to it.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) Visuals are so important when it comes to delivering a message and the video does just that. The imagery is very intense. All I will say is, for those of you who haven’t watched it…go do that now!

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) My songwriting process varies depending on the mood I’m in or the type of song I’m trying to create. If I’m writing a slower song then I can do that acapella with no music but if I’m writing a heavy, driving song then having the producer come up with the track first helps a lot!

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I am extremely involved in the entire process. I collaborate with the producer on sounds/feel/mood. I deliver the melody I want, etc. But I also allow the producer creative freedom to add their own signature to the song. Working on music should be a “meeting of the minds” and not too one-sided.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Eventually, I will deliver an EP but right now I am focused on building up my catalogue, growing my fanbase, and releasing hot singles. We live in a world were singles trump albums…unless you’re a major artist.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I loved performing at SXSW. It is such a fun event, and everyone is eager to soak in all the new music! Also, I love performing in Europe and UK…there’s always a different kind of vibe and love that people from overseas show American artists!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Saint Jhn! I am manifesting that heavily. [laughs]

Q) What album/artist are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Right now I’ve been listening to FKA Twigs’ new album Caprisongs on repeat. I have always been a fan of hers because she can do anything…from operatic style vocals to trap, she’s a unicorn! And her style is just so unique…

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Because everything revolves around social media these days so, it’s imperative. I use my social media as a way to showcase my brand and tell my story. Also, it’s really the only way you can easily connect with fans all over the world in a second!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I am beyond grateful for every stream, every like, every subscribe. You guys keep me going and the enthusiasm that I get makes those hard days much easier! All I want to say is keep continuing to support me and stay on this journey with me…We’re a family! Let’s go to the top! [smiles]
