Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) “The Good Doctor” on ABC!

Q) How will we see Dr. Lim developing over Season Two and what kind of character arc can you tease?

A) It’s so great to be a part of this cast and I think now that we’ll see more of Lim, we’ll get a better sense of what kind of leader/mentor she is. Little bits about her are revealed through the decisions she makes both in and outside of the hospital, which make her far more intriguing than she was back in Season 1. [smiles]

Q) What are some of the themes and cases we will see this season?

A) Unfortunately, we’re not allowed to divulge specifics, but what I love about most all of the cases on the show is that the writers work to ground them in medical facts, while digging into the moral compass and heart of what’s at stake. Which choice is going to be the one these characters make, and will the audience agree with it? We’re all humans doing the best we can, and I think the point lies there.

Q) How would you describe the dynamic between Dr. Lim and Dr. Melendez?

A) They’re old friends and colleagues that started as residents together that have built a solid friendship/mutual respect for one another as surgeons. It’s possible we’ll explore more, but David [Shore] keeps a lot of cards close to his vest. Often times, we’re also surprised about storylines when we read the scripts!

Q) Talk about working with Freddie Highmore.

A) He’s lovely. And so easy. Playing with him in a scene is truly a delight; he’s obviously talented and I appreciate his enormous level of professionalism. To be wearing so many hats at once, and at his age, is impressive!

Q) What do you think is the biggest contributing factor to the show’s popularity?

A) There are several, but mainly I think the audience is yearning to watch stories with heart. The characters are complicated, kind, ambitious, smart and flawed, yet doing their best to make decisions on a daily basis about their own lives, as well as the (literal) lives of others. You can’t help root for them and I think the viewers look forward to being able to do that every Monday night.

Q) What has been your favorite “The Good Doctor” episode to film so far and why?

A) Lim gets an episode where she spends a majority of her time outside the hospital; that was great to shoot! Larry Teng directed that one and he’s awesome, so it was super fun to be outside of San Bonaventure with him!

Q) Is there anything else about this season you would like to share or tease?

A) We aren’t allowed to divulge the little we do know, but I will say there are definitely some nail biters and tear jerkers, so get ready for the ride!

Q) You are a part of social media. Do you enjoy the instant fan feedback you receive to episodes?

A) Absolutely! It’s always heartening when we get to hear how people are taking the show in and what their perception of the storylines and characters are!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you all so much! We work hard to bring our very best to what we do, and it’s truly gratifying when we can feel the love and support from viewers.
