Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) The most recent project out now is “The InBetween.” Before that was “The Last Ship,” which is out already.

Q) Please tell us the premise for “The Inbetween.” What made you want to be a part of the show?

A) I’ve always wanted to play a detective. I thought it would be a lot of fun to do so and I was not wrong. When I first read the pilot it automatically caught my attention. The writing was outstanding and it was female-driven, which I’ve always wanted to be part of.

Q) How was your character Maria Salinas originally described to you?

A) A strong female detective making her mark.

Q) Was there anything you added to her that wasn’t in her initial breakdown?

A) I looked for myself in her and added some of that as well as the vulnerabilities that although her job description does not allow her to show she does have within her.

Q) What have you found challenging about portraying Maria?

A) In the case of Maria, we just see her as a detective working all the time and we don’t see her personal life yet. So, I guess the challenging part was creating her in a way that the audience could still get to know and understand her, although they’re just seeing her work and talk about the cases. My acting coaches William James and Jennifer Cozzo really helped with that.

Q) Were you familiar with any of your costars before working with them on the show?

A) I was familiar with some of them. I knew they had been doing great things and it was a blessing to work with such an amazing cast in front and behind cameras.

Q) What kind of prep research or prep work went into starring in a show about a woman who is a medium?

A) I know that Moira Kirkland, the creator of the show, had been researching for a long time, even years not only on the medium part of it but on the procedural. As to what specifically I don’t know, but I do know there was a lot of research done on her part.

Q) What were some of your most memorable moments from filming “The Inbetween?”

A) One of the most memorable moments was the first table read and seeing how it all started coming together as we were all reading the pilot for the first time. For me, the auditioning process was quite memorable as well as the friendships that came out of filming the show. We laughed a lot. I think too much for a drama show.

Q) What do you think it is about the show that will make it a fast fan favorite?

A) I can only speak from my personal experience with shows and my friends and family love. Procedurals are always a fan favorite and supernatural shows seem to be getting the most ratings and stay on for a very long time. This show has both elements in it and I think people will just love that.

Q) You are a part of social media. Do you enjoy the instant fan feedback you receive to the work that you do?

A) I absolutely love it. It becomes like a big family with people from all over reaching out and taking the time to let you know how much they enjoyed it.

Q) You have had an incredible career! What are some of your favorite projects to have been a part of?

A) Thank you! I definitely loved being part of “The Last Ship.” The actors, the writing and the crew were just amazing. And, of course, the most recent “The Inbetween” was a dream come true. I’m always grateful for every opportunity and I thank God for each one of them. Can’t wait to see what’s coming next. It’s a blessing.

Q) What advice would you give to up and coming actors and actresses?

A) Prepare, prepare and prepare. Don’t compare and do everything with love, have patience, do the work and your time will come. Really enjoy the journey for it prepares you to be ready for when the blessings come. One more thing, if you believe in God…then trust him.
