To prepare for the high school experience, Kenny (Dallas Young) and a handful of students from West Valley Middle School are granted a tour of the high school. After some playful banter with Lia (Milena Rivero) and her noticing a stain on Kenny’s shirt, he heads to the bathroom. While in the bathroom attempting to get the strawberry stain out, Bert (Owen Morgan) from Eagle Fang and Nathaniel (Nathaniel Oh) from Miyagi-Do walk in and take notice of Kenny’s Cobra Kai t-shirt—and proceed to taunt him for it. Not wanting to make waves Kenny tries to leave the bathroom and is stopped by Hawk (Jacob Bertrand), who advises him to stay away from Cobra Kai.

At Miyagi-Do, Johnny’s (William Zabka) jealousy starts to get the better of him as he watches Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) spending more time training with Daniel (Ralph Macchio). In Johnny’s loss of focus, Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo) accidentally kicks him in the face—which causes Johnny to use Demetri as a proverbial test dummy for Miyagi-Do students to test out their kicks. The jealousy continues to be an issue when Miguel leaves with Daniel and Sam (Mary Mouser) to continue work on Carmen’s (Vanessa Rubio) car, even causing problems when him and Carmen attempt to give their relationship another go.

Carmen’s relationship with Johnny also prompts another issue—how they will tell Miguel of their change in status. Sensing that Johnny is afraid to rock the boat with Miguel, Carmen tells Johnny that it will be up to him to tell Miguel about them—especially if it helps him feel more comfortable. In attempting to figure out how to go about it, Johnny has a flashback to when he was a kid (Thomas Parobek) and his mother (Candace Moon) came to tell him about her engagement to Sid. Angered by his mother’s decision, young Johnny goes into his room and pulls a box out from under his bed—his father’s things. His mom sees the box and is upset as his father left them, causing her to take the box to throw everything away.

During training at Cobra Kai, Kenny tells Robby (Tanner Buchanan), Tory (Peyton List), and Kyler (Joe Seo) about his run-in with Hawk, Owen, and Nathaniel. Outraged by the bullying that Kenny is subjected to, they are ready to retaliate against Hawk and his friends. But before the conversation can continue, Kreese (Martin Kove) is ready to start class and introduces a new face to the students—Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith). Since Johnny and Daniel have teamed up, Kreese and Silver coming back together to train Cobra Kai will only create more trouble. Later on while Robby continues to train Kenny, Silver interrupts their time and challenges Robby to fight him. As Silver bests Robby, he tries to teach him how to channel his anger and move past his fears.

With Sam heading to a birthday party with Amanda (Courtney Henggeler) for the daughter of  LaRusso Auto co-worker Sheila (Kwajalyn Brown), Miguel finishes up fixing the car with Daniel and successfully gets it to start. Daniel takes a seat in the passenger side and decides to teach Miguel how to drive the car as they head over to the birthday party in question. During their ride, Daniel shares more about his own home life with his mother. Miguel has never met his father, partly because he was into something illegal and Carmen wanted to take him away from that situation for a better life. Over some Christopher Cross and discussion of bands like Chicago, Miguel and Daniel continue to find common ground.

At the birthday party, Sam is initially bored until she sees that Tory is now working the birthday party as a mermaid. Suddenly, Sam makes it her mission to instigate trouble and goad Tory into showing her true colors to make her lose yet another job. When Tory doesn’t take the bait at first, she utilizes her best storytelling skills to convince the girls at the party that Sam is an evil witch who needs to be glitter-bombed. While the entire exchange takes place, Amanda sees everything. When Miguel arrives to the party and Sam decides to kiss him in front of Tory to upset her, Amanda manages to stop Tory before she leaves and offer her advice.

In preparation for telling Miguel about his relationship with Carmen, Johnny’s meal prep is interrupted by a knock at his door—Robby. To help Kenny, Robby tries to tell Johnny to keep the students from bullying him. Still upset that Robby has chosen Kreese’s side, Johnny lashes out at his son for taking Cobra Kai’s side. Before storming off, Robby reminds his dad that he trusts no one and is only looking out for Kenny. After their confrontation Johnny goes back to making dinner for him and Miguel, only to find that Miguel has eaten with the LaRussos. Seeing how much Miguel has taken to bonding with Daniel, Johnny scraps his plans to talk to him.

That night the drive-in is showing a viewing of Bloodsport, which the students of all three dojos have managed to be at. When Kenny is carrying back food for his Cobra Kai teammates he runs into Hawk, Bert, and Nathaniel—but this time Robby and his Cobra Kai friends are there to protect him. The remaining Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang members confront one another, ready for a rumble. But instead of an actual fight, Miguel convinces the Cobra Kai members to show up to the baseball field for a fight—just as the sprinklers start.

The next day as Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang students tell Johnny and Daniel about the non-fight, Daniel is pleased but Johnny knows that this stunt will only prove to make things worse. And of course, Johnny is right as both Kreese and Silver enter the backyard of Miyagi-Do to confront Daniel and Johnny. While everyone looks on in confusion, Daniel’s face conveys the fear that says it all—he is spooked to see Silver.
