The episode starts in hell. Constantine (Matt Ryan) finds Astra (Olivia Swann) sat at her own booth in a bar and confronts her about the souls she’s released. Constantine pleads her to stop and that he can save her (again), but she refuses and says that those souls are making her soul stronger. She tells Constantine if he wants her to stop, he will have to kill her, which would be pointless because her soul would come straight back to hell. She smirks while biting into a piece of meat and Constantine returns to the Waverider.

Constantine briefs the rest of the Legends on Astra’s plan to which they’re very excited about because they know for once they didn’t screw up the timeline. Ray (Brandon Routh) thinks Astra can be saved just like Nora was, but Constantine says no. Ava (Jes Macallan) then realizes killing the Encores will just send them straight back to hell where Astra will release them again. So, they have to store them on the ship.

Elsewhere on the ship Nate (Nick Zano) is trying to get Gideon to replay the message from old Zari (Tala Ashe) that we saw last episode. But it’s gone and Gideon has no recollection of the message. Behrad (Shayan Sobhian) walks in and asks Nate what he’s doing. While Nate tries to cover his back and say he is just fixing Gideon we watch Behrad glitch and for a second we see Zari. This freaks Nate out even more so Behrad comes to the conclusion that Nate has been in his “stash” again. He then asks if Nate will come meet his family.

Nate and Behrad find Sara (Caity Lotz) and ask if they can leave for a couple of hours, to which she eventually says yes when another timequake hits. This time they’re off to Hollywood in 1947. Everyone leaves the ship apart from Ava and Mick (Dominic Purcell) who have been stationed to keep an eye on things, which Ava is not enjoying.

Meanwhile in Washington DC in 2044 Nate and Behrad are visiting his family. Behrad introduces Nate as his professor from college. While Nate is explaining what he “studies” a very familiar face walks in…Zari. But not the Zari we remember. She walks in holding her phone up in a selfie portrait as she speaks to the camera and blows kisses. In this timeline she is now a shallow but very popular online influencer. Dressed head to toe in glitz and glam she goes to shake Nate’s hand. He is quietly freaking out because he realizes it’s the girl from the hologram. Zari walks away, calling Nate a weirdo, and Nate tells Behrad about the hologram message.

Back in Hollywood Constantine, Sara and Ray find ashes remain of a dead guy who was consumed by hellfire in a small office. Suddenly they are confronted by a woman with a gun who thinks they killed him. Thinking quick on their feet Constantine turns slightly American and pretends he is the dead guys partner, and the woman thinks Ray is a cop. She then introduces herself as Jeanie Hill (Haley Strode) and says she hired him to protect her from her boyfriend Bugsy Siegel (Jonathan Sadowski) who is now back from the dead. He now runs a club called The Blue Iguana and has everyone running around at his feet. Jeanie tell them he’s more vicious nowand she wants to leave him but is too scared.

Sara, Constantine and Ray all head to The Blue Iguana alongside Ava and Mick who are keeping eyes on the field at the bar. Sara and Constantine are watching from a distance as they see Jeanie show up. She notices them and quickly leaves, but they manage to catch up with her to confront her. She says that Bugsy has blackmail photos of her, which is why she can’t leave him. Sara manages to quickly come up with an irresistible plan to gain Bugsy’s trust in the form of flirting. In true Sara Lance style, she manages to seduce Bugsy and lures him out the back. However, they’re ambushed by a rival gang. Of course, being from hell, he can’t simply be killed. So, the gangs shooting at him have no effect. Bugsy pulls out what looks like an ordinary pistol and shoots it. A green floating liquid comes out and vanishes the gangs right before Sara’s eyes. Ray pulls in pretending to be a cop and arrests him, but the crooked cops turn up and take Bugsy away.

At the Tarazi family dinner Zari isn’t impressed with Nate at all. The matter of the air totem comes up when Nate sees a portrait of it beside the table. Behrad’s family believes it was stolen and have no idea he has it on his wrist. His mother (Mitra Lohrasb)says she always feels like it’s still here with them and Behrad starts pretending he is upset while covering up the totem on his wrist. Zari is starting to get very suspicious of the pair because they’re acting very weird.

Constantine finds a message in the matchbook he found at the PI’s office. He meets with Jeanie and reveals he knows where the blackmail stash is located. If she gets his gun and threatens to vanish him, he’ll give her the blackmail. And then Constantine and Jeanie hookup.

Back at the club Ava commiserates with Mick at the bar (very drunk). Ava isn’t handling her shift away from the Time Bureau well. Since it closed down she doesn’t feel like she belongs because all her stuff is in boxes as she also had to hand in the keys to her apartment. She also feels like she is being sidelined in missions. Sara checks in on them both via ear pieces and says she needs a distraction to get Bugsy’s attention away from the station. Ray teams up with an Officer Sullivan (Clayton Chitty) who also is after Siegel.

Ava jumps on stage and starts singing a 40s version of Bell Biv Davoe’s “That Girl is Poison.” In Ava’s head it’s a high production value affair, but in reality, Ava is drunk as hell and everyone is booing and leaving the club. Bugsy turns up insulting Ava’s singing to which Sara gets defensive and says she’s just having fun. Bugsy’s men turn up to take them down, but Sara manages to fight them off while Jeanie gets Bugsy’s gun. This allows Sara and Mick to stop him.

At the Tarazi house, Zari and Nate are sat together alone on a coach talking. Zari starts to tell Nate that she does also feel like they’ve known each other before, which gets Nate really excited because she knew he wasn’t acting crazy. She also starts to mention the totem and that she believes her brother has it. Zari starts to move closer to Nate, almost looking like she is ready to kiss him. Before anything could happen Behrad interrupts. He manages to get Nate out the room, but Zari is still having her suspicions on them.

Constantine takes Jeanie to a graveyard as the message in the matchbook correlated to a gravestone where the blackmail material was hidden. He finds the material in a bag and gets out some matchsticks ready to set it alight. But Jeanie double crosses Constantine, holding the magical gun on him so that she can take the blackmail to use herself. He ends up giving her the blackmail material and letting her walk free.

Ray and Sullivan show up, but Sullivan too double-crosses because he wants to take out Jeanie and the blackmail. He handcuffs Ray to the car and leaves. Jeanie starts heading towards a black car with the blackmail bag to leave. Ray sees Constantine having a smoke and starts honking his horn shouting and pointing at Jeanie. Constantine suddenly realizes what is about to happen. So, he too starts yelling at her to not get in the car. But it’s too late. As Jeanie turns the key the car explodes.

On the Waverider Sara and the Legends are getting the holding cell ready to Bugsy when Constantine shows up furious. He’s upset because he let an innocent woman die and blames it on Bugsy. So, he drags him to hell to confront Astra. He also takes the magical gun which has one bullet left.

Astra is still sat the same table where Constantine threatens to shoot her, but she knows he won’t use it on her. Instead, he shoots Bugsy – for Jeanie – and tells Astra that he won’t give up on her. Returning to the Waverider he tells the Legends that she instead got away.

Before Nate and Behrad leave the Tarazi house, Zari confronts them about Heyworld. She has footage of her phone from the event which happened twenty-four years ago and questions how they were there yet they don’t look any older. She knows Behrad has been living a lie this entire time and goes to shout for her parents. Behrad opens a portal as Zari walks off and she heads straight onto the Waverider. As none of the Legends remember who Zari is they start question her identity and why she is here. At this point Zari is freaking out shouting at her phone to help her before screaming the Waverider down.
