Doris Range Pads are the invention of a Bochum, Germany woman named Doris who is a homemaker and mother. She came to the realization that there was a simple product needed that would make it hassle free for keeping your range top clean. Thankfully, she was able to come up with pads that were heat, abrasion and corrosion resistant! We had the opportunity to try these pads and we can’t wait to share our thoughts!

Stove owners and avid users know that food can splash and then harden, which can then be a tedious task to grab a cleaning solution and attempt to scrub it off. Plus, we often wish there was a way to regulate hate and keep food warm without having to constantly check dishes to adjust the heat. Well, Doris Range Pads are made from a heavy-duty high temperature silicon that has been designed to be placed directly over the burner! This sounded too good to be true…So, I took a closer look.

Doris Range Pads come in various shapes and should be used on a standard range top. They simply fit together like a puzzle, so they can connect and seal to one another – in protection against splashes and liquids. Plus, the pads are able to hold up to 480 degrees Fahrenheit. With this in mind I opened our box, found the best sizing and then placed the padding on our front burners. Unfortunately, there are really no directions that come with the box. Inside the box are a variety of sizes of padding and you match up the best fit for your burners. It is also a bit confusing because, while (yes) it does say it can be placed directly on the burner, you wonder for a moment if the inner circle part really does go on it.

My first attempt at cooking while with pads came about thanks to a craving for a grilled cheese. I turned on the burner, with the pad on top of it, and heated the pan as one would normally do. The grilled cheese turned out just the way you’d like it – melty and gooey. My second attempt to cook while using the pads was less successful. I put a pot on to boil water and after waiting a bit the room started smelling like something was burning. Well, the pad with the boiling water WAS ON FIRE! Thankfully, I was able to easily put it out. At least my electric range with a glass cover did not get damaged, but sadly my Doris Range Pad did not survive

While we had mixed results when it came to cooking with Doris Range Pads, they were a success at keeping food warm when used as a trivet. Additionally, having them as range protection around other burners being used for cooking kept our stove top clean. So, while we can’t officially condone cooking with this product, we would say they did serve part of their purpose. If you’re looking for something to keep your burners clean while cooking and your prepared food warm, check out Doris Range Pads.
