Interviews
Eddie Lucas – Below Deck
Q) It was touched on a bit during the show, but what got you into yachting?
A) After college I wanted to travel and make some money. What better way to do that then work on yachts?
Q) How did you become involved with Below Deck originally?
A) I was looking for jobs working on yachts and I was applying to boat after boat. I didn’t hear anything for awhile, but out of the blue I got a call from the show producers and they asked if I wanted to do the show. So, here I am.
Q) Were there certain parts of your life that you deemed off limits to the cameras?
A) There are some things that I want kept private. Most of them are the same things everybody wants kept private in their life. I would tell you about them, but then they wouldn’t be very private.
Q) You are a Bosun this season. What are your new responsibilities?
A) My responsibilities as Bosun is all the deck operations. That means I have to make the schedule for anchor watches, make sure all maintenance work is done properly and safely by the deck crew and maintain all toys and tenders.
Q) This season you seemed to bond closely with Captain Lee. What is it about him that makes him a good leader?
A) Captain Lee [Rosbach] has worked his way up from the bottom and has earned the respect of the people he is leading. That doesn’t mean I always agree with the way he leads, but I don’t question him because I know he has a lot more knowledge and experience. So instead of questioning him, I respect him, because he is a really nice guy and he is my boss. And now I also have the honor to call him a friend.
Q) There was a lot of controversy with Andrew this season as well. What went through your mind when you found out he had exaggerated his resume?
A) I really wasn’t that surprised. It really made sense after seeing how he worked on deck. I will say it took guts to admit what he did.
Q) Fans consider you the comic relief of the show. Why is it important for you to bring levity to the crew?
A) I love to laugh and I love to make other people laugh. I also think humor really breaks up the monotony of our work.
Q) You are a part of social media. Are you enjoying the instant fan feedback you have begun receiving when the episodes air?
A) I am very appreciative of all the support and feedback that I get from people who watch the show. I am so happy that people really seem to enjoy the show and I am proud to be apart of it.
Q) What do you think it is about “Below Deck” that has made it a fan favorite show?
A) Living on a yacht, not sleeping and working harder then you ever have before breeds drama, humor, ridiculousness and romantic situations. In other words, it has everything that makes great television.
Below Deck airs Tuesdays at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo
