Q) It was touched on a bit during the show, but how did you get your start working on yachts?

A) I went overseas (to Europe) for a gap year when I was eighteen years old. I found work on yachts for extra cash. Little did I know they paid well and also paid you to travel. Having the love for travelling and for water, it was a no brainer to pursue a career in yachting.

Q) What made you want to be a part of “Below Deck Sailing Yacht?”

A) I guess a different experience. Also, I feel I was not born for a normal life and was hoping I would become famous. I always wanted to star in a Hollywood movie and was hoping that this would be a steppingstone in that direction. [winks]

Q) Had you been a fan of the show or familiar with it before joining the cast this year?

A) To be honest with you, I had never watched an episode before. I had heard about the show but never seen a minute of it.

Q) Were there any certain parts of your life you deemed off limits to the camera?

A) I’m quite open. I wouldn’t have gone on a TV show if I felt parts of my life should be off limits.

Q) Talk about your background in sailing yachts.

A) Gosh, where to start? I’ve been doing this for eleven years now and a majority of the boats that I have worked on have been sailing boats. I used to sail a lot as a kid on dinghies so was always attracted to the larger sailing yachts.

Q) We saw you express an interest in Alli [Dore] early on. What was it about him that drew you to her?

A) I guess it was her charm, smile and the fact that she is a genuinely nice person.

Q) Was it just a night of debauchery that brought you and Sydney [Zaruba] to hook up instead?

A) Yes 100%. I’m still kicking myself for doing it.

Q) We know that you stated from the jump that it was a one-night fling with Sydney. Was there something you think that made her confused about where things stood between you?

A) You’re going to have to ask her that question. I thought I made it quite clear to her.

Q) Was switching cabins with JL [Cerza Lanaux] a strategic move to get more privacy or really so JL could get more sleep?

A) Taking pride in what I do, and having done this for a long time, I know how hard we work. And if you aren’t sleeping at night, it is a big problem. I was quite happy to share with Glenn [Shephard]. He has the best stories ever. If someone’s not sleeping and that can be rectified by a bunk swap, that’s what’s going to happen. End of it.

Q) Talk about working with Captain Glenn.

A) One of the best captains I have ever worked for. He is calm, collective and just a great human being. There was no micro-managing, which was great, and he is extremely easy going which made my life and work environment on board a lot easier. Love Cpt. Glenn.

Q) Who have you stayed in contact with and become friendly with from the show?

A) I’d say about 75% of the crew. We all got along really well, but as life goes people are on different continents and keeping in touch with anyone, not just the crew, is not one of my strong points.

Q) What were some of your most memorable moments from filming “Below Deck Sailing Yacht?”

A) I guess meeting everyone. Like I said, we got on so well so having the bond with the crew.

Q) You are a part of social media. Have you been enjoying the instant fan feedback you have been receiving to episodes?

A) Most of it has been amazing and I’m very thankful for that. People are very kind. There are the haters too, which honestly makes me cry with laughter seeing some of the messages they write. Couldn’t believe someone who you don’t even know could have such a massive effect on your life. It’s rather amusing to be honest. Pity them, but it’s amusing.

Q) What do you want to be sure fans know about you and your time on “Below Deck Sailing Yacht?”

A) That there is more to me that meets the eye. Don’t judge a book by its cover and I’m a lot funnier in real life than on TV. [winks]
