Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would say it’s honest, soulful RnB.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) So many to mention… SZA, Beyoncé, H.E.R., Amy Winehouse and Ihene Akio to name a few.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Fairytale.”

A) It’s really about not having the expectation of a fairytale ending.

Q) What do you think it is about the song fans connect to?

A) I think everyone has the expectation of the happy ending at some point and that relationships can be like a fairytale, although it doesn’t always work out that way.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) I’m still working on the visuals, so look out for that coming soon!

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It can be different every time. Sometimes, I have a melody as a voice note or written phrases and words down in my notes. Other times, I go in and don’t have anything until we start creating on the day, so it really varies.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in production of your music?

A) I like to guide the style in which the music is headed and contribute for sure. But the practical side of production is something I’ve yet to master.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Effie performance?

A) I love to put on a show and make sure the people watching really feel every word I’m saying and get as lost in the performance as I do.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) 2020 pending for a whole project, yes!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform, and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I think one of my favorite shows I’ve ever done was at The Old Blue Last in Shoreditch. It’s super intimate. In fact, my best friend and fellow artist had a show there on the 25th of November, which I was a guest performing at.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) There are so many. But from the UK, I would love to collaborate with Kojey Radical.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I love Foals’ new album. I listen to almost every genre and, at the moment, they are on heavy rotation along with Summer Walkers’ album.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I have a love/hate relationship with social media, but I’m grateful that in 2019 we have such easy access to interact with people who are listening to our music.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you, first and foremost. I make music to help people feel however they may be wanting to feel in that moment. That’s why I’ll always continue to do and make honest music that connects.
