Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I’d say that the foundation of the sound begins with my feelings and experiences, and it then continues with organic elements in fusion with modern touches to the production.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I’d say that I am influenced by a lot of different artists and music genres and amongst those people we have Brandy, Victoria Monét, AVA, Angel and also a lot of artists from the middle east like Elissa, George Wassouf and the list goes on and on. Haha!

Q) You were discovered by the iconic Quincy Jones! What were some lessons/advice he imparted on you that you’ve taken with you over the course of your career as a musician?

A) It’s so crazy to think back about how that happened. [laughs] I haven’t expressed the full story of how this journey continued with Mr. Jones, but after meeting with him, I later on started working with some of his colleagues. However, Mr. Jones has taught me so much and inspired me throughout my whole career.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Mississippi.”

A) You know when you love someone as a friend, but they start having other types of feelings for you… and you kinda start blaming yourself because you know that you’re very open and loving as a person. That’s what this song is about.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I believe that the meaning of this song and how it’s expressed lyrically will land in a natural way to the listener – as well as the melodies.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) The songwriting process is not the same every time, but I usually start by either playing the piano or some other organic instrument and just singing melodies over it, and then the lyrics and the story just comes naturally due to anything that is felt when singing.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) When a song is being created, I always express what elements I feel that I would like to have in the production, how I want the vocal production to sound like – the organic instruments, etc. It’s a collaboration between everyone in the room.

Q) Your song “Singing Without You” became a viral hit and was even featured on “Love Island UK.” What does this accomplishment mean to you?

A) It makes me sooo happy to know that the very first song I released, and which I love so much, has been reaching these different shows and so many people. I am very humbled and happy about this!

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Yes, definitely. I’m excited to share my upcoming music with you all!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Any place leaves a certain feeling. But some of the most beautiful moments I’ve had have been when I was singing for a couple of schools in South Africa. That was special. I also had a partnership with Nelson Mandela’s Hospital in SA where I got to sing. That was very special as well. But, honestly, anywhere where I can sing and meet a beautiful crowd of beautiful souls leaves me so happy.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to do a song with Justin Bieber. I love his vibe and think we’d be able to create something dope together.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I love being able to talk and connect to my crowd. That’s a way for me to get to know my beautiful fans and for me to be able to be more expressive.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I love every single one of you so much and I am so blessed to be given so much love for doing what I’m most passionate about. I forever want to continue to sing for you – and give you of what God has given me.
