Forrest Wheeler – Fresh Off The Boat
By: Jamie Steinberg
Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?
A) We are shooting Season 2 of “Fresh Off the Boat.” So, my time is limited; however, I just shot a video with Wong Fu Productions.
Q) What originally made you want to be a part of “Fresh Off the Boat?”
A) I wanted to be part of making television history.
Q) How was Emery originally described to you?
A) Well, his name was Freddy to start with and they changed it to Emery. But my character has always been described as the cool, popular middle brother. I am not unlike that even though I am an only child.
Q) Was there anything you added to Emery that wasn’t scripted for you?
A) Yes, my own special brand of cool. I like to keep Emery as upbeat and sporty as possible.
Q) Where do we pick up with the Huang family in Season 2?
A) The Huang family goes on their first family vacation to Gator World.
Q) You have great chemistry with your onscreen family. Did that come instantly or did you spend time to bond together?
A) Of course, I do. We are like a real family in my heart. We have spent lots of time bonding together, both on and off set.
Q) What has been your most memorable moment from filming?
A) When I crawled through Scottie Pippen’s legs during the taping of the episode “Dribbling Tiger, Bounce Pass Dragon.”
Q) What do you think it is about “Fresh Off The Boat” that has made it a quick fan favorite show?
A) It’s the amazing cast and crew, as well as brilliant writing. I think everybody can root for the underdog.
Q) You are a part of social media. Do you enjoy the instant fan feedback you receive when episodes premiere?
A) Yes, we love to live tweet when we can. It’s really exciting to hear from my fans.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and the show?
A) Thank you to everyone for watching “Fresh Off the Boat.” We’re so excited to continue our journey in Orlando with you. Follow me on Twitter and Instagram at @wheeler_forrest to stay informed.
