Feeling career burn out, pop star Angelina escapes to grant a young fan’s wish in small town New York, where she not only finds the inspiration to revitalize her career but also a shot at true love.

 

 

Q) Please tell us the premise for the film Christmas with You.

A) A famous Latina pop star (Aimee Garcia) grants the Christmas wish of a fan by visiting her and finds love and the perfect Christmas song.

 

Q) How does Christmas with Youdiffer from your typical Christmas movie?

A) It has a Latino cast and a crew of Latino, Latin food and music!

 

Q) What was it about the premise of the movie that made you interested in directing the project?

A) This kind of movie has never been done. I wanted to be part of this project!

 

Q) It’s amazing to see the diversity of the cast and crew. How important was having a diverse cast and crew to the film?

A) It was very important for Netflix, the producers and me to have a diverse cast. We want to do an original Christmas movie.

 

Q) How hands on were you when it came to casting the movie?

A) I was very hands on from the beginning. I’m always very involved. I watched hundreds of castings to pick the right actors.

 

Q) Talk about working with stars Aimee Garcia and Freddie Prinze Jr.

A) I knew both Aimee and Freddie from before filming this project and they knew each other as well. It was great working with them as we didn’t have to get to know each other. We just hit the ground running and created this great film.

 

Q) Usually, Christmas themed movies tend to be shot in the summer. Was there a scene that was most memorable for you to film or one that maybe challenged you the most as a director?

A) We filmed this movie in New York last winter. The most memorable scene is the gala scene. It’s spectacular and the song is very catchy.

 

Q) What do you hope viewers take away from watching Christmas with You?

A) That you have to follow your dreams and your heart.

 

Q) The film came out with great reviews! How did you celebrate?

A) Yes, we are so happy to see the fans are loving the film and we have reached the top ten worldwide.

 

Q) What is next for you? Do you have any other upcoming projects you can tease?

A) I’m finishing the VFXS for a movie I directed for Sony that will launch on Amazon next year. I’m also looking to find an incredible new project to film next!
