Some may say that the present exists where the past and the future intersect, but that notion hinges on the assumption that time travels in a linear fashion. Conversely, if the past, present and future do indeed exist all at once, that version of time might sound something like “Interstellar Casualty,” the latest from time-traveling troubadour Gianni Paci.
This eerie and foreboding tale of “computer[s] crashing,” “Y2K” and “9/11” lives within a song that sounds more like a Civil War-era hymnal than any of the futuristic references contained within. Written, recorded, produced and performed on all instruments by Gianni, the accompanying self-directed and self-produced music video provides another avenue for understanding, as the actress Simone LePatner embodies the soul of a woman searching for some kind of “sweet release” in a world “long dried up.”
