Q) As we start off in episode one Chase is in the algorithm. Could you tell us about that?

A) I’ll tell you about my experience about being in my underwear for days. I got really close with Ginny [Gardner] and Ever [Carradine] because we were stuck in there for a quick minute. When we do get out, eventually, it then sets up the rest of the season and Chase is basically on his own island at the start of Season Three because of his betrayal at the end of Season Two. He is trying to win everyone back because his actions definitely have consequences in Season Three.

Q) I feel like Chase is a lot deeper on the inside than on the surface. Why do you think that is and what do you add to Chase that forms these layers?

A) I think the producers have done a great job of respecting the comic book fans, but made things more interesting and complex in the TV version. So, yes, I would like to think that Chase definitely is deeper. His whole life he had to sort of bite his tongue, mostly with his dad, so a lot of it is pent up frustration and pent up anger. So, over the course of the show, especially in Season Three, you kind of see Chase stepping into who he is and who he’s going to become the rest of his life.

Q) In the algorithm we see this version of Gert that Chase is imagining. She is almost like a damsel in distress. How can she be like that in the algorithm if she is such a strong character in the show? Do you think Chase wants her to be more like what his mind is picturing?

A) I think what Chase loves and respects for Gert is the fact that she is a very independent woman, she is very driven, stubborn, but those are her strengths. I think Chase is so in love with Gert she can do anything and he will still love her. That is what happens in Season Three. They argue, but they also love each other. Love is a very…Real love is a very tough emotion to make disappear even if you try to. Love is one of the most powerful forces in my opinion. So, Chase definitely has the “love bug.”

Q) Speaking of Gert and Chase’s relationship, how do you personally feel about it? Do you think they should be together?

A) I would be fired If I say no. [laughs] My personal view on it is I think it’s a very important relationship for TV audiences to see, in the sense that I feel like we’ve been sort of maybe playing into stereotypes for many years. And I think people will watch their relationship and realize that two people are so different, having been raised different, having different mindsets and traditions and can still be together through communication. Not one path is right. Not one path is wrong. And it doesn’t matter the skin color, race or sexual orientation. Besides just Gert and Chase, look at Nico and Karolina. I think the show had done a great job of hopefully trying to educate our youth, truly, because I feel like this point of my life…I’m young, but kids thirteen, fourteen and fifteen need to be watching healthy relationships because that is what they’re going to look up to. So, I do think our show does a very good job with that. That is my honest opinion.

Q) Are there any new designs for this season?

A) The fistagons have definitely been upgraded in Season Three. I, personally, was never wearing gloves under them and they cut up my fingernails. But this season with them upgraded I’ve found a new technique to help that. The show stepped up a bit with action and special effects. This season is by far the most ambitious season we’ve had.

Q) Can you talk about the cross over with “Cloak & Dagger” this season?

A) So, Olivia [Holt] has been my close friend for seven or eight years. So, her and I would always speak about how amazing it would be if we got a crossover. It was lovely. She is a class act. Aubrey [Joseph] as well. We knew each other from a Men’s Health shoot was also already my mate. So, to have your mates come to work, which you love doing, it was like a playground. They’re great. Story-wise I think it is a great episode to see the worlds collide. We get to see eight teenagers get together to try and save the world. It doesn’t happen every day.

Q) Do you want to cross over to “Cloak & Dagger?”

A) They shoot in New Orleans…So, I’d love to do a crossover in L.A. We already did one, but I don’t know. If they want to build some more sets and put them on the west coast that would be lovely for me. If they ask me to do it I would do it, of course. You got to pay respect to the comic book fans that love to watch it. I love these guys and Rhenzy [Feliz] is one of my closest friends in my actual life. So, I always say the best thing that I’ve taken from this show is the friendships I’ve taken from it, for sure.
