WOW! What a crazy ride this season was! How to Get Away with Murder fans the season five finale “Please Say No One Else Is Dead” was truly amazing and twisty.

We open with a flashback of the prison tape of Xavier Castillo (Gerardo Celasco) meeting with Nate Sr. (Glenn Thurman) and trying to persuade him to fire Annalise as his counsel. Of course, he rejects it. Annalise (Viola Davis) and Bonnie (Liza Weil) are showing Laurel (Karla Souza) and Frank (Charlie Weber) the tape and chastising the two of them for getting her family involved at all seeing as how in the past few years the Castillo’s have linked to too many events. Laurel insists that she hasn’t spoken to her brother in years and had no idea he was behind this, but she believes he is doing it all on behalf of their father as revenge for Antares and Annalise’s involvement.

Little by little we start to see Xavier’s involvement with the case including his first meeting with Miller (John Hensley) in the parking garage promising to make him D.A. if he cooperates and helps Xavier with his plan for revenge on Annalise. It’s him who practically got Miller to keep digging into Annalise and giving the governor her adoption papers.

Speaking of the governor, Birkhead (Laura Innes) meets Annalise once again at the church where Annalise rips into her about giving her fake phone records for Emmett and accusing her again of having something in play with this. The governor pays dumb and storms out, but not before informing Annalise that she already gave the phone records to the FBI and like that the feds are arresting Emmett (Timothy Hutton) in the C&G office while Tegan (Amirah Vann) looks on as she calls Annalise. Annalise tells her what she now knows, that the Castillos are behind all this and not Emmett like they recently thought.

When Annalise gets to the FBI offices they advise her and Emmett that they know that she suspected him. She tries to tell them that the Castillos are behind it. She convinces Tegan to be his lawyer instead and to present a flash drive with more evidence on the Castillos and show the FBI that hacking phone records are no stranger to them. It is also in this meeting that Tegan reveals to Emmett her status as an informant.

Over in the Keating five world, Michaela (Aja Naomi King) has to deal with Gabriel (Rome Flynn) who tells her that Telesco (Melinda Paige Hamilton) has come to him and threatened to contact his mother and take her in for the death of one of her ex’s who died by drug overdose. Gabe all but tells Michaela though he’s truly responsible for the death. He then reveals that Telesco told him that Laurel was offered an immunity deal.  Michaela is pissed and has some choice words with Laurel, but she insists that she’s loyal to the gang and offers to burn the baby blanket with Miller’s blood on as a sign of loyalty. Laurel also discusses with Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) and Connor (Jack Falahee) the idea of them taking care of Christopher in the event of something happening to her. As a group they discuss Asher’s (Matt McGorry) idea of taking Sandrine’s scalp to the FBI and getting Telesco fired since she didn’t take Laurel’s concerns about her mother seriously. The whole group thinks it’s a good idea except Laurel, who fears for not only her safety but for Christopher’s. The conversation gets interrupted when Laurel gets a call from Annalise to do what she promised and call Xavier and let her fix this.

Laurel and Annalise show up to talk to Xavier and tell him that unlike his father he wasn’t careful because he’s been caught. They know about working with Miller and promising him to be D.A. In exchange for helping him kill Nate Sr. they also know that Miller tried to double cross him and get the transfer to happen at a different time. Laurel also mentions him killing her mom and he seems shocked. He allows them to leave thinking they won. And it’s then that he calls Birkhead who he HAS been working with and they decide it’s time for “Plan B.”

As the women are leaving Annalise gets a call from Tegan who tells her that she got Emmett out of FBI custody and cleared his name, but now they have to deal with protecting themselves from Laurel’s family. And that might not be so easy because just as they talk about this, Laurel appears to be missing. And so does Christopher. So, now the big question is who did it? Did she run away on her own accord or get kidnapped?

Hopefully, we find out if and when the show gets renewed for a sixth season!
