ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder aired its third episode last week and boy oh boy did it’s final two minutes drop a HUGE bombshell on us! Not only did we get a huge twist, but we got some new leads on who the mystery victim is in our flash forward. “The Baby Was Never Dead” was a fantastic episode that left me so excited and on edge for tonight’s episode! Let’s recap below.

We open with the final moments of last week with Michaela (Aja Naomi King) questioning Bonnie (Liza Weil) about the blood on her ankle. Bonnie thinks quickly and says that it’s her own and that she cut herself shaving, but Michaela doesn’t seem to believe her.

We flashback to two months earlier and Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) has taken on the new case that Emmett (Timothy Hutton) put her up to, which is defending an egotistical CEO, Niles Harrington (Mark Harelik) accused of strangling his business partner with a belt. Now, we know why he may have written a book entitled The Psychopath CEO, but Annalise and Emmett have to convince the jury that he isn’t psychotic enough to commit murder. But can they do it? If they do get an innocent verdict then Niles plans to move all his business accounts and affairs over to Caplan and Gold so the pressure is on. Speaking of pressure, Annalise is really feeling in when it comes to the clinic and her appeals seeing as how the governor (who we still haven’t met but hopefully if/and or when we do she is played by a powerful and iconic enough actress to play against Davis’s Keating) passes an executive order requiring all law students to undergo an “ethics” exam before trying or working on any active court cases. This means that the clinic has a lot riding on this exam to keep it going.

That means that Michaela, Connor (Jack Falahee), Laurel (Karla Souza), Gabriel (Rome Flynn) and Rhonda (Jessica Marie Garcia) have their work cut out for them. But, of course, Michaela and Laurel both have distractions in the way in that Laurel wants to make baby Christopher laugh and Michaela wants to try and make things right with Tegan (Amirah Vann), who does not take too kindly to that idea. Although, Teagan does seem to be warming up to Annalise, even after telling Michaela that because of her, her friends and their actions and dealing with Antres, she lost out on the promotion that should have been hers. (This makes me wonder if Tegan is genuinely starting to like Annalise or if this is some sort of ploy because we also learn that Emmett may have transferred back to the states because of some sort of misconduct over in London and that sorta bonds the ladies a bit. So, maybe she genuinely is growing fond of her.) All of our clinic passes the exam with Connor calling out the board for further hindering the good work that they are doing just because the incumbent governor has a personal vendetta against his professor.

Back in court after Niles’ secretary recanted her original report that made her his alibi so Annalise comes up with the idea to frame her at any cost in order for them to win. In the process of doing so she has to have Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) come in to snoop in on the secretary, which leads to the discovery that Niles’ wife was actually having an affair with the victim and was the real murderer. The only problem is that Niles refuses to rat out his wife even, if it means that he will be found guilty. The,n Annalise has the brilliant idea to “OJ” the case and make the make the secretary try on the belt knowing now that it belongs to a female. The only problem with that is that the prosecution demands that Niles try it on too and even though he it doesn’t fit him, the jury still finds him guilty. So, Emmett has some explaining to do to the board and has to find another way to keep the law firm afloat.

Frank (Charlie Weber) is still on the Gabe mystery and breaks into his apartment to find anything incriminating and what he finds makes Gabe (Rome Flynn) even more mysterious. Frank finds a wad of cash, an Illinois ID of Gabe with the name “Mark Jackson” and a hard drive that seems to be used for sending anonymous emails. So, Frank is forced to have another hacker friend to set up a program to mirror his activity to Franks computer without Gabe knowing he’s even giving any info away. The only hitch in the plan is that Oliver has caught on that it is Gabe’s flip phone that Frank wanted to clone. We’ll just have to see where all this takes us.

The other person who may or may not be investigating Gabe is Nate (Billy Brown) who is hot off his lead of a security camera picture of a woman who looks suspiciously like Bonnie. When he finally comes clean to Annalise she informs him that the lady in the picture isn’t Bonnie but instead is her sister. WHAT IN THE WORLD?! So, is Bonnie’s sister Gabe’s mom? Does she have a sister that looks uncannily like her or is that a twin? Did Bonnie’s dad make her run away with the baby to keep Bonnie from finding out? I’m so intrigued!!

Switching back to our flash forward, we hear the DJ at the wedding call for the newlyweds to come to the dance floor, but someone is missing. Where is Oliver? And what happened to Connor? Why does he have a black eye? And is Oliver the mystery victim? If he is, then we will riot!! My other theory on the mystery victim is D.A. Ronald (John Hensley). For some reason I just get the vibe that it could possibly be him. We shall see what clues tonight gives us.
