How to Get Away With Murder – We’re Not Getting Away With It

We open on Annalise (Viola Davis) in a bathroom taking off her wig and makeup in order to change into “Justine” and leave her old life behind as she tries to continue to flee Xavier and the FBI and all the drama of Pennsylvania. We also learn that she is in Mexico.

We then join Michaela (Aja Naomi King) and Connor (Jack Falahee) as they are being questioned by the FBI for the murder of Asher (Matt McGorry) – a/k/a the informant/mole. They both know that Special Agent Lanford (William R. Moses) is just trying to intimate them. None-the-less they are both still equally freaking out. Connor even suffers a major panic attack. The feds don’t care as they prepare to do whatever they can just to take Annalise down.

We then see Bonnie (Liza Weil) and Frank (Charlie Weber) in Annalise’s apartment wondering what has happened seeing as how she isn’t there. At first Frank suspects Xavier, but Bonnie has the gut feeling that she ran after the news broke the night before. And she has a idea on who helped.

Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) is scared at the police station and calls Bonnie to let her learn the news about Connor and Micheala. He is then joined by Pam (Cynthia Stevens), Connor’s mother. And after a freak out from Pam, Oliver confesses to Asher’s murder – what we saw in a previous flash forward.

Bonnie goes to see Tegan (Amirah Vann) about Asher’s death and Annalise’s disappearance. She asks if she had anything to do with it and soon Tegan reveals that she only helped Laurel escape because Laurel blackmailed her into helping using Tegan’s involvement in the arrest of her father as a bargaining chip. How did Bonnie know this? More on that later.

The Feds do an unofficial questioning of Gabriel (Rome Flynn) about Asher and how it seems suspicious that on the same night Gabriel went to the FBI about Sam’s death that their informant ends up dead. Gabriel insists he had nothing to do with it.

Frank pays a visit to Nate (Billy Brown) and makes a few accusations that perhaps Nate had something to do with any of the current events happening. Nate doesn’t take it too well and slams the door in Frank’s face after letting him know that he’s done with this group and doesn’t care if Annalise gets found or taken down by the FBI.

Later at the bail hearing of our arrested three, Michaela and Connor’s families both hired new lawyers. Meanwhile, Oliver is being represented by Bonnie. AUSA [Assistant United States Attorney] Montes (Lauren Bowles) sticks to her guns that her and the FBI have plenty of evidence against them all and plays a voicemail Asher left for the special agents revealing that the gang knew he was the informant. Thus, it gives them all motive. The judge denies bail for Connor and Micheala and grants bail to Oliver. This now means that the FBI and Montes can set in motion the plan they had all along.

Frank finds out from Bonnie about Tegan helping Laurel and does what Frank does and gets angry and confronts her. Tegan tells her that she knows a guy in Mexico who does things like that and that she doesn’t know Laurel and baby Christopher’s location. Even if she did, Tegan says she wouldn’t say anything to anyone because she doesn’t want them to end up dead. Interesting that Tegan knows someone in Mexico who helps people escape because that’s exactly where Annalise is now. Speaking of Annalise, she soon gets greeted by a woman who is to lead her to her next location but it’s gonna take some walking.

Special Agent Lanford talks with Micheala and Connor separately and let’s them and their legal team know that they have all the evidence for all the crimes that were on the murder board and plan to offer them an immunity deal that grants them little jail time in exchange for them flipping on Annalise on the stand once they find her. Both Micheala and Connor are shocked that Annalise ran, but are still concerned about her. Michaela’s father, Solomon (Ray Campbell), tells her that he’s known Annalise for a long time and maybe it’s not such a bad thing if she takes the fall for everything.

Before we get to the final moments of the episode we have to finally discuss all the flashbacks we got piecing together Asher’s final moments. We start with him showing up at Bonnie’s home trying to goad her into saying something incriminating but she quickly catches on and calls Frank. Frank then arrives to drive him home and gauge the situation. Once they arrive back at Asher’s apartment, Frank further denies Asher’s baiting for incrimination. And, after Frank leaves, Asher throws his phone in a fit of rage abs breaks it. This leads him to his good neighbor, Gabriel, where Frank offers him the clinic prize money for Asher’s phone. It seems at first like Gabe isn’t up for that but in one of the last moments we see Gabe reading an article about Asher’s death and looking at the check. This currently leaves Gabe and Frank as the two main suspected killers. I personally believe it’s the FBI who killed Asher on purpose to speed up the Annalise trial and that THAT will be what gets them to get away with it.

Now for the final moments. We see Annalise with the aforementioned woman in Mexico who is leading her to a car, but Annalise either seems to recognize the driver or just has a bad feeling about running away and decides not to join her. It’s then that the police apprehend her. I believe they found her due to Solomon giving up her location a little bit earlier in the episode to the FBI since he helped facilitate her escape.
