HUTS – You & Me
By: Lisa Steinberg
Q) How would you describe your sound?
A) A mix between progressive house and Slap House. We call it “progressive slap.”
Q) Who are some of your musical influences?
A) Axwell, Frans Bauer, MEDUZA
Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “You & Me.” How did you come to collaborate with PRISKA on the track?
A) We were looking to write a follow-up to our single “Night We Met.” When we heard some of PRISKA’s work and we decided to invite her over to the studio. We recorded the whole track in only a couple hours. She writes extremely fast and is fun to work with.
Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?
A) “You & Me” underlines what we’re trying to do with our Progressive Slap style. It’s a fitting track for both radio and festivals so it’s easy to connect with the song.
Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?
A) With this one we started out with just some piano chords. When we had the basic ideas down, we made the structure and arrangement and finished writing the song. All of this together with PRISKA.
Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?
A) We do everything from zero to a finished product. We design our own sounds, record the vocals and even mix and master our tracks.
Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?
A) There are no concrete plans for this, but we have a lot of upcoming singles!
Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?
A) We started our project HUTS right before the first COVID-19 lockdown. We’ve had lazer-focus on producing and releasing music over the past two years and are only recently starting to look at doing live performances. It would be a dream to one day headline Tomorrowland and UMF.
Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?
A) Fransje bauer
Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?
A) “Won’t Forget You” – Felix Jaehn Remix. It’s a surprising remix from him but really fits the sound that we’ve been working on in recent months.
Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?
A) Social media has become the main platform to discover new music, especially TikTok and reels. We always try to make content that resonates with a lot of people that also enjoy our music. This creates a sense of community.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) Thank you all for supporting us and our music and we hope to see you all very soon at one of our shows!
