As we know from the last episode, Jane (Gina Rodriguez) has came back from Montana and decided she wants to be with Rafael (Justin Baldoni), not Michael (Brett Dier). Rafael says it is too late. Jane is not going to stop fighting, even though Raf is ignoring her.

Rogelio (Jaime Camil) is going through a heartbreak and fight of his own. It seems the U.S. version of “The Passions of Santos” was passed on by the network.

Jane decides to do a little digging about how Raf is doing through Mateo (Elias Janssen). Mateo tells her that Rafael is coming to his school for the book fair, so she decides to casually show up as well, as an excuse to talk to Rafael. Rafael ends up calling her when she pulls in because there was an incident at Mateo’s school where their son got called “stupid” by another kid. They talk to the teacher and find out Mateo is behind the other kids and struggling with his reading.

Alba (Ivonne Coll) is worried about immigration coming to check on her and Jorge (Alfonso DiLuca). She still has feelings for Jorge, but he is over her.

Jane and Rafael decide to put all the craziness behind them and focus on Mateo. Rafael says they are a good team together. Jane tries to help Mateo learn to read and pick out words, but he isn’t very into it. Rogelio wants Jane to write a proposal to the network to help push the show, but the network thinks it isn’t what viewers want and the stars, a.k.a. Ro, are too old.

Alba and Jorge practice for their interview together. Alba is having a hard time because she says every time she is alone with him her feelings take over.

Rafael and Jane are helping Mateo study when he finally starts getting it. Rafael asks Jane to get breakfast so that they can talk about their relationship. Alba and Jorge practice again with support from Xo (Andrea Navedo).

Petra (Yael Grobglas) still doesn’t know who broke into The Marbella. She looks around and hears someone speaking in Czech when she realizes it is Pammy the Parrot mascot (Katie Michels). She was the rat inside the whole time.

Jane decides that she needs to make a “big” but “small” romantic gesture of her own. She goes to the house Rafael is showing and puts out blankets and candles. Little does she know that Rafael’s boss and clients came in today. His boss insists they leave.

Jane then finds out she has been reading Rafael all wrong. He didn’t want to be alone to rekindle, but to talk about Mateo without him hearing them. He makes it clear to her once again that they are through and she needs to move on. He just is trying to be a good co-parent, not get back together with her. Jane talks to Xo and comes to terms with the fact that she needs to move on and leave Rafael alone.

Jorge and Alba go to their interview where it seems as though Jorge is finally realizing how wonderful Alba is. Rogelio is disappointed in Jane for not finishing the proposal yet.

Meanwhile, Petra and J.R. (Rosario Dawson) are sitting together when suddenly a red dot points on her head. They realize it was Petra’s daughters and they are also the ones who did all the other things, even sending the emails. They thought J.R. was the bad guy, but Petra explains everything to them

Jorge admits that he is a prideful man and let that get in the way of him loving Alba. They embrace and admit they love each other.

J.R. insists she tries to bond with the girls and her and Petra work on their relationship and stance as a family. While Petra is telling Rafael about everything it seems he is being watched. We see that it is by one of Sin Rostro’s (Bridget Regan) allies. They have become close with Luisa (Yara Martinez) and is encouraging her to talk to Rafael and meet her nieces and nephews.
