Jane The Virgin – Chapter Ninety-One

Jane (Gina Rodriguez) is writing her new novel when Rogelio (Jaime Camil) comes in to tell her that the producers of the telenovela loved her outline so much they want her to write the first pilot script. She now has to figure out how to split her time between writing her novel and writing the pilot.

Mateo (Elias Janssen) is still struggling in school and his teacher suggests getting him tested to see if he has a learning disability. Rafael (Justin Baldoni) says he does not want to get Mateo tested and that he is just a child so he’ll grow out of it. Jane is too worried so books an appointment behind his back.

Luisa (Yara Martinez) has been trying to get back into Rafael’s good graces after he found out she might possibly still be working with Rose (Bridget Regan). She tells him she isn’t and was set up, but he thinks she is just lying again. Rose’s spy is Luisa’s new friend Bobby (Tommy Dorfman). Bobby tells Luisa maybe she should go see Rose and get proof to show Rafael she is innocent.

Rafael talks to Petra (Yael Grobglas) about what is happening with Mateo and decides he should get him tested just in case. He comes to tell Jane and calls the doctor, finding out Jane already made the appointment. This leads Rafael to get a lawyer to adjust their custody agreement so that medical decisions for Mateo cannot be made by just Jane alone. After telling her, he just leaves. She follows him in an abiding by the speed limit car chase.

Petra is dealing with J.R. (Rosario Dawson) looking for jobs in Houston. She decides to use her resources to get her a job in Miami. J.R. is mad at first and tells Petra she was trying to pick a fight because while she was in Houston she realized she just wants a fresh start with everything, including with Petra. She breaks up with her and Petra runs to Jane who comforts her.

While Jane is chasing Rafael he gets into a fender bender, making him late for his showing of a house. Jane goes for him and stalls, as much as she can, very very terribly. Rafael gets there just in time for them to say they are going to take the house.

Luisa goes to see Rose and realizes she signed those papers while she was drunk and while they were still together. Rose tells Luisa she will love her unconditionally, even though she is the reason she is in jail. She questions why she is fighting to be okay with Rafael when he doesn’t seem to care. Rose tells Luisa she sent Bobby and says to go to him. Luisa says no, showing she is through with her loyalty to Rose.

Rogelio goes to tell Jane he knows she has been so stressed lately and she doesn’t have to write for the telenovela anymore. It may be a lot of money, but she isn’t passionate about it like she is for her novel, which she should be spending her time on.

Rafael and Jane find out Mateo has ADHD. Jane takes things hard but realizes that they have to accept it and live through it still giving him a good life. They are adjusting their custody agreement, doing it now while things are good between them.

Luisa tells Rafael the truth but he still doesn’t want her around him or his family. She goes to Bobby and says she will do whatever Rose needs.
