Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) Recently, in July I co-wrote, produced and starred in the film Milwaukee. It’s playing the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California at the end of January. I also wrote and directed a short film called 10 Speed that will play at Cinequest also in the Shorts division.

Q) What is in store this season on “Helix” and with your character Dr. Sarah Jordan?

A) This season is a lot darker, especially for Sarah. In the first season, she was very green and new. Although she is very educated and accomplished, she didn’t necessarily have the tools to prepare her for what happened at Arctic Bio Systems. That experience really made her a little jaded and made her mature a little bit. She is going to go through some pretty horrible stuff this year and it is definitely going to harden her and make her a much tougher character.

Q) After two seasons, how does the cast continue to maintain their chemistry?

A) We have such an awesome cast. It’s probably my favorite thing about the show. We just all really like each other. Billy Campbell is such an amazing actor and such an amazing person. He really sets the tone for everybody and we’re pretty lucky to have him.

Q) Was there anything you added to the role that wasn’t originally scripted for you?

A) I like to think that I brought something to the character in the first season that maybe the writers weren’t anticipating. After working on a show for two years, we get to know the writers pretty well and they get to know us pretty well. So, they have a pretty good idea of where we are going. I like to think I brought an edginess to her that hopefully will surprise people.

Q) What are some of your most memorable moments from filming this season?

A) I got to hang out a lot with Neil Napier this year. We didn’t work together much last year, but he is a good friend of mine. We have known each other for probably six or seven years now. Just getting to goof around on set with him was really fun, keeping the mood light despite how dark the content was this year.

Q) Who would you like to have more scenes with in the future?

A) Definitely Kyra [Zygorsky]! She plays Julia Walker and I look up to her so much. I have so much respect for her. I was really hoping because both of our characters at the end of last year became immortal that we were going to get to work together. That wasn’t really the case. I think she is phenomenal and getting to work with her is such a treat. I wish I got to work with her more this year.

Q) What do you think it is about the show that has made it such a quick fan favorite?

A) I hope it has something to do with the cast. Again, when you have such great chemistry off screen you hope that it translates on screen. I love it when I am watching stuff what really hooks me in is when I can relate to the characters. Hopefully, it is the characters that are making people love the show so much.

Q) Do you have any plans to return to Twitter in the near future?

A) I don’t think so. I’m so technological inept that I’m terrified that I would mess something up on Twitter and that it is out there in the world forever. So, I think I am going to steer clear of it for now. Neil keeps me updated on his Twitter about it. I’m so grateful that the fans are so enthused by the show. I hope they keep watching the show despite my Twitter absence.

Q) Is there anything else you want to be sure to share with fans about Season 2 of “Helix?”

A) Expect the unexpected! This season gets really, really dark and I think there are a lot of twists and turns that people won’t see coming. Hopefully, they will like that.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you for tuning in each week. Thanks for all the support they have given us!
