Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is country pop rock! [wink]

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Some of my musical influences is Patsy Cline, Reba, Dolly Parton, Grace Potter, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Perry and so many more!

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Pioneer Soul Shaker.”

A) The story behind this song is I wanted to write something that was about persevering and continuing your path, despite how hard it may be. Becoming a pioneer of whatever your passionate about. For me, it’s music, but for others it could be being a parent, working a certain job or being the best version you can be, despite the obstacles.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think it’s a song that people can relate to because we’ve all been through tough times in life. But I think that’s what continues to mold you and make you the person that you are. It gives a level of authenticity to your character.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) I wanted to have a video where it showed me being a strong independent female in Music City. It’s a high energy video and it features my band, as well is kind of a day in the life of my journey in Nashville, Tennessee.

Q) What made International Women’s Day the perfect day to release the single?

A) Yes, releasing the song on International Women’s Day was perfect. It was a great way to represent females of all kinds!

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) My songwriting process varies song to song. Sometimes I can start with a basic hook or a beat or groove on the piano or a pattered on the guitar. Every single song is different. Sometimes I can just have a dream or a thought on the song and it just comes together super easily. Song writing should be seamless and organic, never forced.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I produce all my own music. Everything from producing, engineering, mixing and mastering I do it myself at my studio in Nashville, Tennessee. I also produce a lot of other artists. I love having full control of my art form and creativity.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Justine Blazer performance?

A) For my live performances, fans can expect a high energy show. My band is amazing. I sing my originals and a lot of different covers from country to rock to current stuff. For sure a fun time!

Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming in the near future?

A) Yes, my new album was released in April. It features 12 tracks that I wrote and produced.  I even did a cover of “Sweet Child of Mine.” It’s called Pioneer Soul Shaker now on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon music, Google play and many more!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Some my favorite places to perform is Whiskey Bent Saloon in Nashville. I play there every week. It’s always such a good time. I also like playing festivals and outdoor events as well, but it’s a great time to connect with more fans.  I also had a ton of fun when I played my tour in Europe.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to collaborate with Reba [McEntire]. You never know, the sky’s the limit. But she has always been a major inspiration to my music.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) There are so many bands that I like. I like Greta Van Fleet and Volbeat, I also like Mary Morris’s new stuff.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is a great way for me to connect with fans every single day. I try to stay as active as possible on it. It’s been a great way for me to grow my network and fan base. Plus, it’s fun!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would like to say thank you. I have had some fans that have followed me for over a decade now. Some fans are just now discovering by music. Either way, I am truly happy that they like my music. It keeps me motivated and keeps me going!
