Q) Your album Influencers is out now. What are some themes you explore on it?

A) When I was writing this album, I was going through a inspiration phase, meaning thinking about what drives me, pushes me forward and what I cherish the most in life.  You will hear a lot of “being home, being with friends” themes, “pushing yourself when you feel like you cannot go one more step” and, of course, love.

Q) There are twelve tracks on the album that feature various global producers and songwriters, that all share a love for dance music. Talk about the process of connecting with these individuals such as Justine Blazer, Terry Hunter & Kevin Rockhill and what made them right for this project.

A) I wanted to create an album where every track stood on its own, but then collectively, they fit together.  All of the producers were blind to the other tracks. I did not want them influencing each other.  So, it was sort of like Christmas morning for every track that we completely.  Everyone has a different feel, different genre within the dance space.  I did not want anyone to get bored.  Plus, these artists that I worked with are my musical friends.  Years of collaboration and influencing each other – combining us altogether just made sense.

Q) “I Love You More” seems to quite a hit with the fans, as you have already over 32K streams of it on Spotify. What do you think it is about this track that fans really love?

A) This track is so old school Chicago dance, deep underground.  Raf n Soul is just an amazing producer.  It’s actually a track that Moscow’s hit Dance station plays a lot, BreakZ FM in Koln, Germany, along with CJMQ in Sherbrooke Canada – so it is starting to have a life of its own outside of the dance clubs.  That was a surprise to us. I am guessing fans really love the instrumentation of this one.  We have a cello and a guitar that just screams “Come and Dance with ME.”  It’s very infectious.

Q) Which of the songs on the album holds a personal significance for you and what makes it so special?

A) Well, I mean, all of them. But when I am not feeling I can push myself to do something, “Running Past the Line” motivates me.   Something about going beyond the finish line strikes a chord with me.

Q) What song(s) challenged you the most creatively for this album?

A) “Just in Time.” I loved the lyrics but felt like it needed something else. I also was not happy with the vibe. Justine [Blazer] came in and gave it an extra kick, added some great lyrics and just wrapped up the song nicely.

Q) With so many upbeat tunes, which of the songs have you been enjoying performing live?

A) This we will have to wait and see. I have not performed these yet!  The first will be in either Amsterdam at ADE or in Nashville in October during the Josie awards weekend.

Q) Will there a big tour coming to accompany this new album?

A) That depends on my TV shooting schedule.  I just signed a 24-episode contract with SeemaTV to produce my show “Miami’s Listening Party.”  If I can write enough scripts and arrange the dates, I definitely will tour.  With all these projects, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas (having so many projects gifted to me at the same time!).

Q) What do you hope lingers with audiences that explore the music on Influencers?

A) Like with most of my dance songs, I want people to escape – whether that is during their workout, on the dance floor, running outside or laying on the deck of a boat.  My songs should be fun to listening to, but with meaning.

Q) Who are some artists/musicians that you are a fan of these days and would even love to collaborate with on a track in the future?

A) Teso!  Sultan S+ Shepard!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of the music that you make?

A) Thank you for putting up with me and my crazy song ideas!
