Interviews
Kyle Breitkopf – V Wars
By: Jamie Steinberg
Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?
A) I just finished Season 3 of voicing Rusty Rivets for Nickelodeon. I also had a nice story arc on a new series called “Barkskins” for National Geographic. It’s based on the novel and will be out sometime next year.
Q) What made you want to be a part of the series “V Wars?”
A) The breakdown looked interesting. It was different than any other series out there.
Q) How was your role of Dez originally described to you?
A) I knew he was the son of a scientist. I also knew was a little bit frustrated, but wasn’t exactly sure why.
Q) Was there something you added to the character that wasn’t in the initial breakdown?
A) Well, actors usually put a bit of their own spin on characters. I wanted him to be brave, but also vulnerable.
Q) What was your immediate reaction when you found out you got the part of Dez?
A) I always get excited when I book anything, but when I heard there was already a huge fanbase around it I freaked out.
Q) Were you familiar with any of your costars before sharing a screen with them for this series?
A) I had heard of Ian Somerhalder before. My cousin is a big “The Vampire Diaries” fan.
Q) Talk about working with costar Ian Somerhalder and the dynamic between Luther and Dez.
A) Well, Ian is a dad in real life, but has never played one on screen before. I’m ALWAYS someone’s son in every show or movie, so it worked out pretty good. We had a great connection right away and I think that is going to show on screen.
Q) What can you tease were some of your favorite scenes to film or memorable moments from filming?
A) This is spoiler free! But anytime Dez had a vampire encounter, it was super cool.
Q) How did you shake off a long day of filming?
A) TV, music and sleep. (Usually in that order).
Q) Since the series is coming out Netflix, what do you think it is about “V Wars” that is going to make it a fast binge-watchable series?
A) I think people will be so caught up in the story that they will want to watch one after-the-other to see what happens next!
Q) Is there anything else about your time on the series you want to be sure we share with our readers?
A) I hope everyone loves the show and we get another season, or 10!
Q) You are a part of social media. Are you looking forward to the instant fan feedback you’ll receive to episodes?
A) I am! I love connecting with followers and can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction to the show!
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and the work you do?
A) I am just a regular kid. Some kids play hockey and some dance. I act. I’m glad I can entertain people by doing what I love.
