Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I’m currently working on a top-secret video game that I cannot wait to talk about and a Canadian series for Rogers TV that hasn’t been announced yet. Lots of exciting stuff on the way.

Q) What made you want to be a part of the series “V Wars?”

A) Unlike other shows of the same genre, “V Wars” is grounded in reality. We’re talking about a global outbreak threatening humanity, a virus with no known cure that transforms people into monsters overnight. It’s such a show that explores relevant issues such as climate change, discrimination, hate crimes and violence and humanity. There’s nothing glamorous about it, which was the most appealing aspect, in my opinion. I wanted to bite into a juicy role, pun intended, and the show allowed me to do just that with Danika.

Q) How was your role of Danika originally described to you?

A) I never saw a character breakdown for Danika. I was originally cast as another character, but then they offered me Danika. All I was told was, “She’s a vampire and you’re going to have a lot of fun with her!” The first thing I did was order Jonathan Maberry’s anthology and started my homework. Danika is a hungry, power driven female blood who takes full advantage of whatever situation she’s in.

Q) Was there something you added to the character that wasn’t in the initial breakdown?

A) Red hair?! [laughs] In the books, if I remember correctly, she described as a woman with long black hair and high cheekbones. That made me laugh. Laura Vandervoort, who plays Mila, definitely has the Dubov cheekbones!!!

Q) What did you find challenging about your portrayal?

A) I was a little shy at first tapping into her sexual nature. She’s like a wild animal, especially when she first turns. I was somewhat waiting for permission to “go there” fully. It’s always a little strange at first, but we have such a supportive cast and crew that I was able to eventually surrender.

Q) What was your immediate reaction when you found out you got the part of Danika?

A) I always yell and laugh when my agent calls with good news. There’s a release of tension and I have to let it out. Then, I get very focused and start worrying about everything. I’m all over the place!

Q) Were you familiar with any of your costars before sharing a screen with them for this series?

A) Absolutely! I definitely had a “Vampire Dairies” phase. I also knew of Adrian [Holmes] and Laura so I was super excited to get to work with them. Also, funnily enough, Jacky [Lai], Sydney [Meyer] and I were all on “Shadowhunters” together when the show got cancelled. We were all meant to have big arcs in Season Four, so when we found out it got cancelled, we were all so bummed out, but it all worked out in the end!

Q) What can you tease were some of your favorite scenes to film or memorable moments from filming?

A) My absolutely favorite scene of the entire series is actually in the trailer, the one where Danika licks Dr. Luther Swann (Ian Somerhalder) face. It’s a wild scene. I don’t want to say too much. You’ll have to watch, but I felt so badass!

Q) How did you shake off a long day of filming?

A) A shower, a sheet mask and a ton of true crime TV. Just the BEST!

Q) Since the series is coming out on Netflix, what do you think it is about “V Wars” that is going to make it a fast binge-watchable series?

A) I think people are going to want to just keep their heart rates up. It’s a pretty intense show with a lot at stake.

Q) You are a part of social media. Are you looking forward to the instant fan feedback you’ll receive to episodes?

A) Absolutely! I try my best to keep up with Twitter. I do like the back and forth with fans. I use Instagram for visual purposes only, but hit me up on Twitter and I’ll get back to you!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and the work you do?

A) Thank you for all the love and support. Fans mean the world. They’re why these shows exist.
