Lucifer – A Devil of My Word

It’s morning and Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Chloe (Lauren German) are watching Charlotte’s (Tricia Helfer) body being loaded into the back of the van. Lucifer says he’ll never see her again and points out that Chloe will get to see her again as sadly she’s gone to a place where he can not follow. They walk over to Ella (Aimee Garcia) who is clearly very upset but trying to hold it in for the sake of doing her job. She informs them that she’s trying, but she’s got nothing for them to go on. Pierce (Tom Welling) suddenly appears and tells everyone he knows it’s hard, but they have to push through and starts giving out orders to everyone. He tells Dan (Kevin Alejandro) to go home and grieve to which Dan says he’ll grieve when this is all over. Pierce holds Lucifer back as he is asking where Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) is because he and Charlotte were so close that he thought maybe he’d know something. Lucifer shows Pierce the feather from Amenadiel’s wings explaining that Amenadiel is back in the Silver City, so they won’t be able to ask him anything. Dan goes to Charlotte’s home and starts looking over her stuff holding back tears as he tosses the waffle maker at the table shattering it on impact. He notices the files she had were all on Pierce. Pierce meets up with John Barrow (Gonzalo Menendez) and he tells Pierce that he and the boys are ready to get back in business. As they talk John asks Pierce what he wants them to do with Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt). Pierce tells him to hold on to her because he may still need her.

Maze is finally starting to wake up to men in front of her face. Remembering what Pierce said about Linda (Rachael Harris) she starts beating the daylights out of the group. She starts to leave only to find more men around the corner. Chloe and Lucifer are looking through files and paperwork when Dan comes rushing in telling everyone that he knows who killed Charlotte and reveals that it is Pierce. When asked why Pierce would want to kill Charlotte he tells them that Pierce is the Sinnerman. Lucifer says that Dan is right and that he told him months ago, which causes Chloe to ask why he didn’t tell her because she almost married him. Lucifer states that he tried to, but she didn’t believe him. Ella pokes her head through the door and tells them that Pierce wants to talk to everyone and as they walk out of the room they listen and watch as Pierce gets “upset” and starts to “cry.” This is when Chloe realizes that he doesn’t act like that and knows for sure that Pierce was the one who killed Charlotte. She asks Lucifer and Dan how they can take him down.

Chloe, Lucifer and Dan are going through papers as she tells Dan he needs to reel in his anger that he has if they are going to bring Pierce down. Ella shows them a cigarette left which was missed the first time around and says that it’s a good thing Pierce held off on releasing the crime scene otherwise they wouldn’t have found it. Chloe is about to tell Ella the truth but is stopped when Pierce starts to walk in and asks how things are going. Chloe tells him of the lead they’ve got and that they will keep him posted. Pierce notices Dan and says that he would still be working if it were him in Dan’s position and offers that if he needs anything. Dan cuts him off and says he needs to catch the person who did this to Charlotte. When Pierce leaves, Lucifer mentions how Dan’s improv is paying off before giving him a job well done.

The trio arrive at Steve Chamberlain’s (Jared Farid Ward) who is just arriving home. He asks if they can do it inside due to nosey neighbors and all, but once inside he tells them he’s not answering any questions without his lawyer. Chloe eases the way for him to talk by saying that Charlotte was murdered shocking Steve even more is when Dan pulls out the cigarette telling him that his DNA was found at the scene. Steve is firm when he says he didn’t kill Charlotte to which Chloe simply says she knows. Lucifer adds to it by saying they think he’s being framed and he needs his help. Lucifer asked him if he was being framed where would he hide the gun, which Steve says he didn’t hide it yet if he did he’d hide it in his desk. When the desk is opened the gun is revealed.

Linda is wrapping up a session with a client who is finally at ease with the fact not everyone is out to get him when Maze comes bursting through the door holding him at knife point asking if he’s there to hurt Linda. Freaking out, he says no and is released as Linda tries to ease Maze by telling her he’s a patient. When he’s let go Linda yells after him that she’ll see him next week. Maze checks and makes sure Linda is okay and when she gets the answer she collapses leaving the knife in Linda’s hand.

Chloe, Lucifer, Dan and Steve walk around his charity event that he’s hosting and as they discuss who would owe the Sinnerman they come to the realization that they aren’t looking for a criminal but someone who is clean. Dan rushes out the front door to the driver and throws him against the car door asking who hired him to frame his boss. Lucifer pulls Dan away and uses his mojo to get the driver to talk and he reveals he wished he’d never sneezed because he took his eyes off the road and a biker came from nowhere, so he went to the Sinnerman to make it go away. The Driver agrees to help them with everything they need. With time running out they all agree they need some help. Dan meets with Ella who hugs him and tells him he needs to go home. He tells Ella that they have the wrong guy and that he needs her help. Ella goes to Pierce about a phone Dan gave her and informs Pierce that Dan sounded crazy and that she’s worried about him. When Ella leaves, Pierce calls one of his men and tells him to take care of Dan. John creeps up on Dan as he’s sleeping and holds a gun up at him only to have Chloe step up behind him and Dan sit up both holding him at gun point. Lucifer shows up at Pierce’s office saying it’s time for an awakening and that he knows he’s the one who killed Charlotte.

Pierce denies what Lucifer is saying and tells Lucifer that they caught the guy, so he doesn’t know why Lucifer is acting this way. Lucifer informs Pierce that Chloe is not in the building so he’s okay, but Pierce not so much. He pulls out a chair and leaves no room for debate when he asks Pierce to sit down. When Pierce sits down Lucifer reveals that for every lie he will break a body part. Pierce tells Lucifer that he didn’t mean to kill Charlotte and that he was aiming for Amenadiel. Lucifer asks him if he’s supposed to spare his life because he wanted his brother dead instead. Pierce admits that God took his mark away and that he thought if he killed his favorite son he’d give it back. As Lucifer says things that tick Pierce off, he uses his position to yell for help causing cops to come in. Chloe and Dan are upset with the actions that Lucifer did when Ella comes to his defense and says that she wanted to rip his throat out then and there. Chloe calls Pierce and asks if he’s okay as she heard everything that Lucifer did at the station. He realizes that Lucifer is with her along with Dan and when she confirms they are she tells him that Ella is with them as well. She threatens Pierce with John when she tells him that he will talk, which Pierce says he won’t because of his sister. Chloe makes it known that one way or the other she will find Pierce.

Maze is waking up with Linda sitting beside her. She starts to get up only to be stopped by Linda who tells Maze she needs to stay still. Maze informs her that she can’t stay here and that being around all these humans is making her different. Linda points out it looked like Maze fought ten people and ran a mile just to be there. Maze informs her that it was twelve people and four miles to get there. Linda says that her point was Maze did that for her to save her and that emotions are hard and that that was the strongest she’s ever seen Maze. Maze says actions are easy for her, which is why she needs to say things to her and apologizes to Linda who accepts the apology and offers one of her own before asking if someone was really trying to kill her Maze tells her to not worry because everything will be okay.

Lucifer and Ella are looking out over the city when Ella says she misses Charlotte. Ella opens up to Lucifer and tells him that she knows God works in mysterious ways and asks why he would do this. Lucifer tells her that he doesn’t think it’s God’s fault and that they do this to themselves. Chloe and John talk about his sister and why he’s not talking when Chloe says she can protect him. He laughs it off saying she can’t protect him at all. Dan asks Chloe if they can be left alone and when Chloe asks if she can leave them alone he says yes and leaves. Dan talks to John and how the conversation went when he first met Pierce. He pulls the gun out that was used to kill Charlotte. Dan walks out of the room with the address to John’s sister and Chloe tells Dan that she and Lucifer will go get the sister. Chloe and Lucifer talk as they look for the sister’s loft and she tells him she’s done with metaphors and Devil talk because she doesn’t see him that way. Ella gets off the phone with Detroit Police Department to run finger prints for them and it shows he’s an only child so that they are walking into a trap. Chloe tells Lucifer something doesn’t feel right and goes for her gun when Pierce comes out behind them telling her not to.

Chloe notices that they are very outnumbered and tells Pierce that he doesn’t have to do this, which Pierce relies he does because he can’t reinvent himself as he knows Lucifer won’t stop looking for him. This is why he has to kill him. Pierce tells Chloe to move away from Lucifer, which for the first time Lucifer tells Chloe he agrees with Pierce and tells her to move away. Instead of stepping away she moves in front of Lucifer and says she knows he won’t shoot. She says to Pierce that she doesn’t want to die and that she can’t until she stops him. She fires and hits Pierce, but not before a bullet hits Chloe. Pierce tells his men to finish it and they start firing. Lucifer protects them when his wings come out and covers Chloe and himself. He flies them to the roof and tells Chloe that they are okay when she says they need to find Pierce. Lucifer turns and flies away. He flies through the window and takes down Pierce’s men leaving him and Pierce to fight it out. Chloe, who is still on the roof, answers the phone to Dan saying it was a trap. She says that she’s okay and starts telling Dan about how she knows but is stopped when she hears gun shots being fired. Lucifer tells Pierce it’s no use because Chloe is a good distance away only for Pierce to bring out the knife that can kill Lucifer. As they fight Lucifer blocks the knife from his throat and ends up stabbing Pierce. He tells Pierce that he’s a devil of his word and tells Pierce that Chloe is fine no thanks to him. Pierce believes he’s going to heaven because he doesn’t regret anything he’s done when Lucifer points out that it may have been true except for when he killed Charlotte. Suddenly, Lucifer’s face starts turning back. Chloe comes running back in and suddenly she’s face to face with Lucifer and his Devil Face.
