Chloe (Lauren German) shows up at Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) penthouse calling out for him noticing how dark it is and how quiet it is. Chloe goes to check towards the balcony when Lucifer comes out scaring her telling Chloe there’s been a change of plans telling her to leave and that he can’t get rid of them. Chloe asks Lucifer what’s on his back as he advances towards her causing Chloe to back up over the railing causing her to fall. Lucifer jumps after her and yells for her to reach for his hand, not making it as his wings holds him back. Suddenly, Lucifer is in Linda’s (Rachael Harris) office telling her about his dream and asking her what she thinks it means. She tells him it’s obvious what it means, pointing out that his dream means he’s afraid to lose Chloe. Lucifer changes the subject telling Linda that he is going to go against his father and remove Pierce’s (Tom Welling) curse, which is why he was there telling Linda to cure his mental block so he can find a way to kill Pierce.

Chloe goes into the lab telling Ella (Aimee Garcia) she has to cancel their plans again. Chloe asks Ella for a raincheck and that she can’t miss work, Ella walks out telling her that one day she’s going to realize what she’s missed. On their way to the crime scene, Lucifer is very quiet. He tells her he’s trying to solve a puzzle and he has a mental block asking Chloe if she’s experienced something like that. She tells him that there’s always a new angle to consider. When they arrive, Dan (Kevin Alejandro) tells them that the victim is an author of a book series and that she was killed by her head being bashed in by her vintage type writer. Dan tells Chloe that Kathleen’s editor Vincent (Russell Wong) found her body and called it in. Chloe leaves to talk to him when Lucifer asks Dan how he comes up with improv. Dan tells him that agree with the first things said and follow it up by and there creating the “Yes…and….” Method. Vincent tells Chloe that he stopped by to pick up the manuscript because there was only one physical copy because Kathleen wrote them on a type writer. At this point, Lucifer joins them and starts using the method he just learned from Dan while he and Chloe talk to Vincent more. Vincent asks if this whole thing is his fault because he got so excited he tweeted about the book being done to get her fans hyped up about it. Chloe asks Lucifer why he’s talking like that and points out he’s saying what he normally would only adding ‘yes’ ‘and’, Lucifer tells him it was something he’d hoped would knock him out of his dry spell but it’s clearly not working. Vincent draws their attention back as he tells them Kathleen went through writer’s block for five years before she figured out how to end the series. Lucifer asks Vincent how she cleared her block and he tells them that he doesn’t know and that she told him he’d understand it once he read it. He says she explained how she worked through it in the book’s afterward. Lucifer tells Chloe that the afterward might be the key to fixing his own block and that they need to find it, to which Chloe points out that they need find the killer.

Linda and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) are having dinner together when he tells her that the last few weeks they’ve had together has been incredible. Linda tells him that she feels the same to which Amenadiel tells her that maybe one day they could have the date in public. Linda tells him that she hates sneaking around Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) to which Amenadiel says he knows and that she can’t find out. Linda informs him that she wants to tell Maze, but she doesn’t know how and Amenadiel tells her that Maze would not handle it well. She explains that she feels so guilty that she’s been avoiding her calls. At the station, Lucifer is reading one of Kathleen’s books as Chloe sits on listening and Lucifer asks if her high school was anything like in the book, Chloe tells him that child stars really didn’t have time for school so most of the time it was tutors on set. Chloe and Lucifer go through a website where Kathleen interacts with fans when they find a heated discussion between Kathleen and another person named Ashley.

Amenadiel shows up at Maze and Chloe’s apartment as Trixie (Scarlett Estevez) opens the door. Amenadiel asks if Maze is home which she tells him no nda he asks Trixie to tell Maze he stopped by and leaves. Trixie goes to Maze and tells him that Amenadiel is nice and she doesn’t know why she doesn’t want to see him because he’s nice. Maze tells Trixie that if Amenadiel was nice he wouldn’t be sneaking behind her back with her best friend. Trixie tells Maze that sometimes people are just scared to tell the truth and that they just need a little help, this comment gets Maze thinking. Meanwhile, Chloe and Lucifer track down the person who Kathleen was talking to online to an ice cream shop where they work. Chloe informs Lucifer that it’s also the place the melted ice cream from the crime scene came from. Chloe walks up to the counter and introduces herself, but before she could finish one of the workers makes a run for it but doesn’t get very far. A man walked over to them and says her name is Claire (Francesca Santoro). This confuses Chloe who thought the girl was Ashley. When the man says his name is Ashley (Joseph Dixon) and he’s the manager, Lucifer gets up in his face telling him he wants the book before he shows him the true meaning of “You scream, I scream for ice cream.”

At the station, Lucifer is getting very frustrated and asks Ashley once more where the book is to which Ashley responds that he has no idea. Chloe places the empty ice cream container on the table as Ashley picks it up and grins. He tells them that was a flavor he created and delivered to Ashley personally. Lucifer asks him if he always delivers ice cream to his murder victims. Ashley says Kathleen was the greatest writer of their generation and that the books were deeper than they think. Chloe presents Ashley with the conversation he had with Kathleen and he tells them that he shouldn’t have done it and that since then he’s sent her some of his writings. He informs Chloe and Lucifer that Kathleen liked his writing and that she even asked him to help her finish her last book. He tells them that once she read what he wrote that she decided to go a different route, but told him that he helped her finish the book on her own. Ashley tells them that she stated that she needed to be more authentic and get back to her original inspiration. Chloe and Dan present Ella, Lucifer and Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) with the information that the characters in Kathleen’s books are based on real life people. Charlotte points out that if the characters are based on the people Kathleen went to school with then that sounds a lot like motive. Ashley oints out which former classmates he thinks are guilty and tells everyone that one of them has his book so they need to go bring them in. Charlotte stops him saying that it’s just speculation and that it’s not enough because they don’t have any leverage. They discuss how the class reunion is the next day which is a good time for them to go undercover only finding one problem when Ella tells them Lucifer could go undercover as Todd Cornwell (Austin Basis) who was the class loner and went to school overseas while also having zero social media coverage. They find another problem when Ella informs the group that Todd rsvp’d to be at the reunion. Chloe asks Charlotte if there’s any legal way to prevent Todd from showing up. Charlotte tells her that there’s no legal way to distract him. She tells them if anyone needs her she’ll be in her office where she cannot hear the plan. Lucifer goes to call Maze as he hands Chloe the stack of books telling her to do the research.

Maze shows up at Linda’s office clearly shocking the other woman as Maze tells her that she seems kind of busy because she called a couple times and heard nothing back. Linda tells her that work has been crazy to which Maze tells her she thought she got a boyfriend. Linda tells her that she’s so single. Maze tells her that she should set her up and that she knows just the guy. Linda tries to tell her she doesn’t have to but agrees with Maze in the end. Chloe is still reading the books when Trixie comes in causing Chloe to jump and ask why she’s awake and to go back to bed. Trixie tells her that it’s morning and that she’s going to miss the bus, which causes Chloe to spring into action and rushing out the door. That evening, Lucifer and Chloe arrive to Westside High where the reunion is being held and starts to fangirl as she points out the people from the books to Lucifer. As they get their name tags, Chloe tells Lucifer that they each have three people they need to question and Lucifer adds on they need to find out where each were at the time of the murder he questions if Chloe is listening to him as she’s acting giddy and looking around. Lucifer takes the drink from Chloe’s hand and tells her that he can’t believe he’s the one telling her to focus which draws Chloe’s attention back to him for about two seconds before she spots Jessica (Julie Gonzalo). She tells Lucifer that she was on her list and leaves him be. Meanwhile, Linda shows up to the restaurant seemingly the first one when she turns to go to the bar she runs into Amenadiel. They both talk about how Maze might be torturing them until she shows up with Todd who hands Linda flowers and is informed he’s her date. Linda asks what she and Amenadiel are doing there to which Maze answers they are having a double date.

Lucifer approaches Isabel (Chasty Ballesteros) who is shocked to see “Todd” so different. He asks if they could talk as Isabel leads him away saying that they should catch up. As this is happening, Chloe is talking to Jessica and Max (Trevor Donovan) about Kathleen’s book. Lucifer tries to with Tristian (Sean Mann) and another man who kept silent on him. When Chloe pushes them for answers Jessica started to act funny which causes Chloe to call her out saying she was with Bo and she didn’t want Isabel to find out. Maze puts Linda and Todd in an awkward situation and tells them that they should turn it up.

Lucifer gets upset not getting the answers he wants and manages to get Tristian to open up about how they were all together at the school pool. Lucifer goes to search for Chloe who was lead into the hallway by Max who is flirting with her when Jessica comes down and they rehash how she cheated on him because she thought he cheated with Emily (Caryn Ward). Emily comes down asking Max what’s going on because she thought it was just going to be them. They are soon joined by Lucifer, but as the situation escalates Lucifer informs Chloe that no one there killed Kathleen. Max points out that Todd was the one hanging out with Kathleen two days ago – at least that’s what he said in the email to Max. Lucifer tells Chloe that he thinks him as Todd is the killer. Chloe and Lucifer head to find Todd as they discuss Chloe being less than professional as she apologizes and tells Lucifer that she never went to her own prom.

Things start to get out of hand when it’s brought to light that Maze does in fact know, causing Linda and Maze to argue and Maze questioning if this was the purpose Amenadiel was sent for. Linda tells Maze that everything she and Amenadiel had was real this hurts Maze even more as she lowers her voice and tells Linda that she was her friend before rushing out past Lucifer who calls for her as Chloe holds Todd at gun point telling him to drop the knives. They take Todd to the station where he informs them that he did see Kathleen two nights ago and finds out she was murdered. He tells them he doesn’t know how Kathleen tracked him down. He informs them that she was going to include him in the book and make him the hero and that she told him how the story itself had a peaceful ending. Chloe and Lucifer leave the room and make a phone call to Vincent about Kathleen working with a ghost writer name dropping Ashley as he asks if Ashley was a suspect. Vincent shows up at the ice cream shop to take out Ashley only to be met with Lucifer. Chloe comes up behind him as they start getting the confessions from Vincent who admits he threw the type writer at her. Lucifer asks where the book is when he tells him he got rid of it. This gets Lucifer angry causing Chloe to intervene. Linda and Amenadiel talk about their relationship and how they should have never lied to Maze and how she should have never lied to herself. She tells him that he’s made her very happy, but she was being selfish because Maze is her friend and it hurts her as she ends things with Amenadiel. Lucifer calls Chloe to come to LUX, she arrives and asks if she’s back to be the good detective and how it’s no fun when he’s the responsible one. She tells Lucifer that she likes being the responsible adult and when he asks if she no longer desires her high school prom and all she’s missed she says no. Lucifer then presents her with a flower asking her to go to prom with him as he turns music on and they dance. She asks if he’s ever going to tell her about what he’s been trying to solve. He finally caves and tells her about the curse and tells him that it’s better to move forward than being stuck in the past because they can’t rewrite history.
