Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Trap was what I was trying to do; however, my form is never pure since I have so many influences. I love retro vibes like calypso or doo wop. So, it is that meets 808s . It captures the vibe in the world at this moment as well as paying homage to a collage of styles.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Radiohead, of course, but I am very addicted to trap. It calms me down. [laughs]

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Sensory Overload.”

A) It giving myself a pat on the back. I have been through so many hardships. but I have survived them. I am basically a badass because of that.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) Everyone has insecurities, but to live with them and be aware of them is something different!

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I need a room full of inspiration. I have become skilled with creating if I may manifest. [laughs] Now, I just need a vibe.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) A very big hand. More than what I give myself credit for.

Q) What can fans expect from a live MAPEI performance?

A) Horns and beats. I love jazz and when I perform, I switch it up and make the songs moody. Then, who know what will happen next.

Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming soon?

A) Nov 8

Q) Your single “Rise Up” is super inspirational! What is it about our current political climate that it is especially important to “rise up?”

A) It’s about waking up, rising up in the midst of this mass hysteria with corruption, etc. Also, it’s about giving people inspiration to move forward.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Brazil because they have embraced me with such heart.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Always Kendrick [Lamar] or Gucci Mane. Would love to do Latin as well.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Dope lemon. Such melancholy and drive. I am a rock-n-roll chick deep inside, I think!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) They get to visit my gallery of life and greet me with a like. Oo, that rhymed!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
