Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Bubblegum bangers. Pop music with an edge.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) It’s always changing, but the last few years it’s been Jhené Aiko, Kehlani and Ariana Grande.

Q) What did you learn from your time at ICON Collective that has really been of help with your music career?

A) I learned how to use Ableton, which is the DAW I use to produce. I knew how to use Logic Pro to record my vocals before I went to school, but learning Ableton allowed me to make songs for my vocals to live in.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “I Don’t Wanna Be Touched.” What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) Apparently not wanting to be touched. [laughs] I really was just inspired by this cat. This man was trying to pet a cat that so obviously didn’t want to be touched and I just had to give the cat a voice. I think a lot of women also really relate to it. Men always trying to approach them or touch them, and it not always being welcomed.

Q) What can you tease about how the video for the track plays into the message behind it?

A) The video is out now!! I went with a Wild West theme about me and this cat (played by the influencer cat Maple Cat) facing off at a bar like two rival gangs. I was inspired by how the drums in the song have a gallop like rhythm.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It’s always different! Sometimes I write lyrics first and other times I make the beat first, but my favorite is when they both come to me at the same time.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) It’s all me!!!! The only part I don’t do, if I’m able to get a little help, is mastering my tracks at the end.

Q) You’ve created soundtracks out of some of the most mundane sounds! Have you always had a knack for turning small noises into full-length tracks?

A) Nope, this is a skill I figured out last year!

Q) TikTok has become a popular place during the pandemic. What advice would you give to up and coming musicians looking to get started on the app?

A) To figure out what is unique about you and really put that on display in the best way. There are already too many people trying to copy and do the same thing as other big creators. Just be you.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Charlie Puth, John Mayer or Kim Petras. Super different all of them, but all have a special uniqueness I love.

Q) We loved you in Strange Magic. Any chance we’ll be seeing on our screens or in movies soon?

A) Thank you!!! I’m sure one day, but I don’t have anything planned at the moment. The next thing for me acting-wise is a video game that I can’t talk about yet.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Because it’s how I find my fans and how I’m able to continue to create. It’s a blessing and curse, but it’s a great time to be an independent artist with that tool.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you so much for your support, and for having a similar sense of humor and love of music! I’m here to make you smile or feel less alone, so whenever I can that makes me feel like I’m making a difference with my life.
