Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I’m doing a TV series called “Family Business” for BET. It’s a drama and we were on for one season and we’re waiting to find out about a pickup. We’re also developing Juwanna Mann 2 right now.

Q) Please tell us the premise for the film Worth and about your character Dr. Harris.

A) Worth is about an MMA fighter who falls in love. His girl falls into a coma and now he doesn’t have to fight for his championship, but now it’s for love because he’s fighting for her to get right. I play a doctor who is more like a counselor for them. Instead of fighting for money and pride, he’s fighting for love because he has to pay for her care. It’s really a heartwarming story.

Q) What made you want to be a part of the film?

A) I just liked the script. I liked the heart of the script. It has a lot of heart. We fight for money and we fight for ego, but he’s fighting for love. That’s a touching story.

Q) Was there anything you added to the role that wasn’t initially scripted for you?

A) No, not really. I just felt like for the intensity of the scene and the emotion of it, the doctor was more like a friend. When you’re in those situations and the doctor is the closest person to you since he’s taking care of your person he’s more like a friend. So, I just tried to play that close association and understand the seriousness of that relationship during that particular time in that person’s life.

Q) Did you do much research into coma patients?

A) Yeah, I did. I talked to a few doctors about what they do and what you say to people.

Q) What did you find challenging about your role?

A) To me, every role is challenging to bring out about the depth and realism that you can out of that scene. I feel like all scenes are challenging to me. I don’t think one scene is more challenging to the next.

Q) Were you familiar with anyone from the film before working with them?

A) Yeah, I did. I was actually familiar with the director.

Q) Were you excited then to share a scene with someone in particular?

A) No, not really. I like Tony Todd. He’s a really good friend of mine. I like working with everybody. There is never anyone I get excited about or anything. I just like to go in and lay it out!

Q) What advice did director Eduardo Castrillo offer that you took to heart while filming?

A) I have worked with him on a couple projects before. I think that kid is genius! I think he’s going to make a hell of an impact on the film industry one day. I wanted to help him and do everything I can for him. I think he’s absolutely genius!

Q) What were some of your favorite moments from filming Worth?

A) I can’t remember. I don’t’ remember too much of behind the scenes stuff. I’ve got so many projects in my head! I have so much fun on sets. If we’re shooting about a funeral, I’d still have a good time. [laughs]

Q) What do you think it is about Worth that will make it a standout movie?

A) The director and the heart of the film.

Q) You are a part of social media. Are you looking forward to the instant feedback you’ll receive to those that watch the movie?

A) Absolutely! I do love that a lot. I might like it too much. It’s the same as doing a play. You get that instant gratification, that instant feedback. You have a real communication with your true fans.

Q) You have great comedic timing. Is it something that you have had to work at or is it a natural ability of yours?

A) It’s weird. I’ve been asked that question a lot of times and that’s just something I’ve been like since I was a kid – making people laugh. I was always the one making people laugh. I was always the one getting kicked out of class because I was clowning. So, I’ve always been that guy.

Q) What can you tease about Juwanna Mann 2?

A) We don’t really know what we’re going to do yet. The studio is having writers coming up with stories and we’ll go through them and pick out which one we want.

Q) What made it your favorite project to have worked on?

A) I was the lead in it and number one on the call sheet. It was so much fun and I got to create, ad lib and do all of the stuff I do. It was just so much fun.

Q) Is there anything else about Worth to our readers?

A) Make sure you go check the film out. It’s really heartwarming and I guarantee you are going to love it.
