Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I think my sound is a nice cross between pop, rock and alternative.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I absolutely have always adored Dave Matthews. When writing, I think I go back to a lot of the things I learned from being an avid fan. I also have always loved modern rock bands like Shinedown and Halestorm.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Someone Just Like You.”

A) “Someone Just Like You” is about handling a narcissist. No matter what you do, at the end of the day, a narcissist will mirror it and it’s so difficult to separate yourself from the guilt and blame they place. This song was written to kind of call out that behavior and rise above it from the perspective of someone who’s simply had enough. I was inspired by the breakdown of a relationship in my life that took a major toll and I found myself struggling with it because I did everything I could for this person and they did bare minimum for me, but no matter what, he seemed to portray himself as a victim. It took years to understand, but now I know there is nothing I could have done to change things and the best thing I could do was just move on without that negative influence.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think today, with technology being a critical part of life, many people quickly become self-absorbed and, in turn, can be very damaging towards those around them. This song is relatable to those who have felt that rath from someone they love.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) The video is basically a cathartic view of me “defeating” the narcissist in several different time period. The director of the video has been a friend for many years, and he was there as a friend while I navigated through the challenging relationship with the narcissist. He did for me what I couldn’t do for myself with this video.

Q) You teamed with Alex Rhodes on the lyrics to this song. What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Music always comes first. Then, I try to hum some sort of melody, and slowly but surely I fill in the blank with words around a theme. Alex is a master rhymer, so I utilize her when I get stuck.

Q) Myles Clayborne leant a hand with the production on the single, but how much of a hand do you have in the production of the music that you make?

A) It depends on the song, some I have a lot, some I have a little.

Q) With “Someone Just Like You” out now, is there a full album or EP coming in the near future or are you focused on releasing singles for the time being?

A) I hope so!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love playing at home in Syracuse. Although I’ve been out of Syracuse for almost ten years, it’s where I started my career and where I love to play (as long as it’s above 70 degrees).

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Tyson Ritter of the All-American Rejects.

Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve been listening to 2000s hits playlists on Spotify trying to hype myself up for summer.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you all for everything. Couldn’t do this without you.
