By: Robert Warren and Jamie Steinberg
Netflix is delivering again, fan favorites. As the online media platform evolves, Netflix keeps their trends current with the series that fans grow to love. Having so many subscribers, Netflix does not shy away from material audiences cling to, including the latest seasons of current hit shows. There is a lot coming to Netflix this September and it couldn’t be more enticing. Get excited because there is plenty of ad free material coming your way through the Netflix digital streaming platform!
The Walking Dead (Season 8)
We left off in Season 7 where Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors were traveling to Alexandria to confront Rick (Andrew Lincoln) with a coffin containing Sasha Williams’ (Sonequa Martin-Green) body [alive] as a gimmick. Too bad; however, the trick went awry with Sasha committing suicide along the way, taking a poison capsule given to her by Eugene (Josh McDermitt). Things get crazy towards the end of the season when Rick gets double-crossed by the Scavengers. If you can imagine, Season 8 gets even wilder! Why watch? Well, in Season 8 we get the intensity that Season 7 was building towards with a big bloody war.
We all know that Negan is the leader of a group of nearly 1,000 survivors. In Season 8 there’s drama (well much more than drama actually) with a full-on showdown and everyone knows there is always excitement to be had when this occurs. Diving in, there is a faceoff between the Alexandrians (Rick`s crew) and the Saviors (the group Negan`s leading), which you may have seen coming for a season or two, but this is that big bloody mess for which you have been waiting. It is a full out war this season! So, if that is not enough to watch the eighth season of “The Walking Dead” there is more as suspicions grow of one another, teams join forces and the beginning of an important mission (a big one) to take down Negan.
Once Upon A Time (Final season)
With the end of Season 6 revealing some pretty powerful twists and adding some amazing turns (like restoring memories that the characters in Storybrooke lost), Season 7 of the hit ABC show “Once Upon A Time” serves as the last and final adventure for the beloved fairytale themed series. Thankfully, the show goes on and answers many of the mysteries for which we’ve been waiting for a glimpse. Season 7 is set several years after Season Six and really deepens the storyline, too. An adult Henry Mills (Andrew J. West) is set to meet Cinderella. Sadly, when the two lovebirds miss connecting Cinderella (Dania Ramirez) meets up with Princess Tiana (Mekia Cox) who recruits her as part of the resistance. Plus, in this final season of “Once,” viewers are treated to some very interesting flashbacks throughout and Mills even makes his way outside their beloved Storybrooke in search of his own story!
From the show that got you hooked with characters ranging from Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue), the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) to Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle), we reach a lovely closure. Yes, we are sad to close the final chapter of “Once Upon a Time” as this series comes to an end, but it could not be more exciting to send it up in style by watching one last time as it is available on Netflix now.
Quantico (Season 3)
When it comes to “Quantico,” the intense and cinematic ABC anti-terrorism drama, we have always followed the lives of Federal Bureau of Investigation recruits as they are being trained as agents while also holding tight to a number of personal secrets. What makes the series interesting is the secrets each of them hold, and why it is exactly that they want to be trained to be a secret agent…making you wonder. Season 3 takes off with so much more behind the surface with a mystery of the subtext that makes the series interesting and intriguing. We pick up, again, following main character CIA analyst Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra,) who now has had to leave the United States in order to avoid getting arrested. What is intriguing about this season of the show is that we follow our “Jane Bond” as she goes from living a little while in Italy until being forced to return to America after receiving information on the kidnapping of friend and former CIA cohort Shelby (Johanna Braddy).
This season is all about saving Shelby at any and all costs. What are the stakes for this and is it going to be worth it? You will definitely need to watch the show in order to find out. This season is exciting taking you from a wonderful peaceful anonymous lifestyle in picturesque Italy to the crazy and involved search to find Shelby. Leaving off from the hostage situation from the G-20 summit in Season 2, “Quantico” Season 3 takes viewers on a whole new whirlwind of action and adventure. With all this season has in store, you’ll want to press play on “Quantico” via Netflix.
Cable Girls [Las Chicas del Cable] (Season 3)
Muy caliente! This his Spanish series Season 3 has (finally) reached Netflix! Not many spoilers have been shared about what is in store for this season; however, our four favorite females that began working in telecommunications company in the 1920s will be heading into the future this season – thanks to a time jump.
Now in 1930, we begin at a flapper party that would give The Great Gatsby a run for his money! The trailer that was released also gives us just a glimpse at what the ladies are up to at the event: Angeles (Maggie Civantos) discourages a fellow patron from paying for her drink (hopefully, she’s ditched that husband), Sara (Ana Pulvorosa) and Carlota (Ana Fernandez) are just as thick as thieves as ever (where could Miguel be?) and Lidia (Blanca Suarez) seems to be on the edge of her seat with nerves. If you’re already a fan of this series, you’ll want to hunker down on the couch to see what is in store for this dulce divas.
Wentworth (Season 6)
The land down under has us captivated again with the latest season of “Wentworth!” What started as a tale of one woman on trial for the murder of her husband has turned into a series whose reviews could rival in the glory of similar US show “Orange is the New Black.” While this particular season has already aired in Australia, Netflix is (thankfully) bringing it to more northern shores.
The latest installment follows the search for former inmate Franky Doyle and sociopath (and former Governor) Joan Ferguson (Pamela Rabe) who have gone missing. However, we do know that Franky (Nicole da Silva) is desperate to find evidence to prove she’s being framed for murder. Meanwhile, Liz (Celia Ireland) is a ball of nerves upon learning that Sonia (Sigrid Thornton) is set to make a full recovery and could accuse being the person responsible for having poisoned her – and possibly looking for revenge. Plus, we are introduced to newest inmate Rita Connors (Leah Purcell) who immediately rubs Kaz (Tammy Macintosh) wrong the way. Every “Wentworth” fan knows that each season is always action packed and sure to bring intensity and drama! Now that Season 6 is available for binge watching on Netflix, be ready for a real rollercoaster of a ride!
Netflix is releasing a heavy amount of material this year, especially this September, with things to which fans attach. This viewing platform makes us grateful that it keeps up with fan favorite shows from the likes of “The Walking Dead,” “Once Upon a Time, “Wentworth” and many more! Whether you are in the mood for action, comedy, drama, anime or period pieces – this place has it all. Thankfully, Netflix (as stated earlier) does not shy away from what audiences crave. It even has heavy amounts of original content from the likes of new animated adult comedy series “Disenchantment” from “The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening and Season 2 of action adventure show “Iron Fist,” based on the Marvel comic book.
