Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound has different personalities. I love being powerful, edgy and slightly dark. I’m definitely more on the pop side of dance music.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Vocal influences are Amy Lee from Evanescence, Alanis Morissette and Christina Aguilera. As far as songwriters, I would say Max Martin, Sia and Lady Gaga.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Flavor.”

A) I received this great track from Niiko and Swae and got a sassy, slightly edgy vibe immediately after listening to it. I wrote the song in my bedroom in about 1 hour.

Q) How did you come to work with Niiko X SWAE on the track?

A) I was introduced to them by my manager. He thought we would have a good working chemistry and he was obviously right. It was a great process working with them.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that makes it a great end of Summer jam?

A) “Flavor” is a fun, light and slightly sexy song. I’m really happy to see the amazing feedback on it.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) I actually wrote the song with a theme of the music video in mind. I just felt like the “Flavor” theme should be eating ice cream on hot summer day. The video turned out great and it’s clear we all have amazing dance moves.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Most of the time I write to a track and other times I sit behind a piano and start with a chord progression, which is great because you can control the song from beginning to end. It just depends on the situation. I love writing both ways.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I usually let the producer handle that side of the music, but there have been songs that I assisted with in the production. If I have a specific idea of how the vocal should sound and the production isn’t complimenting it, that’s when I will come in and tweak a few things. I’m also a vocal producer so I do edit my own vocals with my engineer. I’m very hands on in the process of creating a song.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Alicia Madison performance?

A) It depends on the venue. Obviously, in a big room it will be a very high energy performance of my biggest songs. Maybe give out ice cream to the audience in light of my song “Flavor!” I love to do intimate performance where I create acoustic versions of my dance songs. It’s more raw and personal experience with my fans.

Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming in the near future?

A) There are definitely more singles coming out and a good chance of an EP or album in the future.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love places where I can create an elaborate performance where I can perform my songs with a track and then sit behind a piano and play another song acoustically. I love being intimate with my audience so small venues are also fun for me to perform in.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Zedd

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’m actually listening to a lot of Dua Lipa. Love her sound. I’d love to write with/for her one day.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media has become the best way to interact with fans. I’m VERY active on all socials and answer pretty much every comment or message I receive. Instagram livestreams have become a great way to have conversations with fans. I love how they are able to be included in whatever is going on in my life in those few minutes.  I’m also on twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, etc.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you for following my journey, for allowing me to be myself and for continuing to support my music and my dream. I wouldn’t be here without you!
